HFBoards TOP 60 ranking: Defencemen #16

Now that the season and playoffs are over, I thought we'd do an "HFboards ranking" for each position.

So basically, who (of the following) is the best defenceman in the NHL? ie. which Dman would you want on your team for next year only? (independent of their respective salary)

Vote away.

Ranking so far

1. Lidstrom
2. Chara
3. Pronger
4. Niedermayer
5. Weber
6. Markov
7. Gonchar
8. Keith
9. Bouwmeester
10. Green

11. Boyle
12. Timonen
13. Phaneuf
14. Zubov
15. Kaberle

Paul Martin - the best even strength defenseman left on the list. By far the best dman NJ had when they made Scott Clemmensen look like an NHL starter.

Guys to consider adding:

Pitkanen - #1 guy on a Conference finalist. Very good in the playoffs.

Bieksa - Led the solid Vancouver D in minutes. Solid all-round guy.

Hejda - #1 guy in Columbus. Columbus fans credit him with helping make Mason look so good.

Don't understand how Mitchell is ahead of a guy like Bieksa...

I voted for Streit, surprised he isn't getting more support.

Suter. Many Predators fans consider him to be better than Weber.

i'd consider bogosian is already ahead of him

granted they are both still just learning the game at this level but i'd say enstrom will be lucky to be a top 15 player in the league in his career and this is coming from a HUGE enstrom fan

Hejda, the guy is a +43 on the Blue Jacketsthe last 2 years. The next closest person on the team is +11. Before this year there was only 5 or 6 + players on the team, and they were all around +1 or 2.
