I'm throwing it out there, despite it never going to happen:

We draft Kulikov.

Comes to camp, earns a spot, finishes the year strong with 11 points in the last 20 games when someone gets injured. We all love his game and the extra Russian presence helps us secure Volchy to a 4 year 15M deal.

The other scenario, a little more realistic, is that we draft OEL, Kadri or MPS (somehow) and they spend an extra year in junior, only to come back strong and add substance to the Karlssons, Weircochs and O'Briens that will be ready then.

Who ever the draft should get a chance at making the team.

I just hope Murray doesn't take some lowball offer for Heatley. I'd rather hang onto him until the trade deadline. Someone for sure would make a fair move for him then I would think.

& here's hoping any trade he does make today involving Heatley gives us another 1st round pick!

AHH I can't wait

Not if we draft OEL. he doesn't even play in the SEL yet...going back to his old Division 2 team....

Im hoping for Cowen, I havent seen anyone post on here that they are too. Does everyone just figure he easily goes before #9?

Me too, still holding out hope for MSP though, hopefully he'll drop like Kopitar or like Sbisa last year...

I am also hoping for Kadri. A 1-2 punch of Spezza 19 and Kadri 91 would be great!

I believe Kadri is who we're going to draft, assuming Murray doesn't flip the pick

If we're dead-set on taking a forward and Kadri is gone by #9, who do we pick? I guess it all depends, but MPS will likely be gone, as will Tavares, Duchene, Kane, and Schenn.

If OEL, Kulikov, and Cowen are all on the board, do we take a forward?

I don't think I would mind Kadri...

I always keep on hoping for a pick that could step right in as soon as this year, can Kadri do that? I know, the odds are always against us, especially with the 9th pick, but I keep on hoping for a Eaves/Meszaros surprise.

I say all of this, but of course I prefer the player that will be better down the road (regardless of if he can make the team this year or not).

If Kadri is gone, I believe Murray will take a defenseman. Murray said he's not drafting by position, he'll take the BPA.

i doubt anyone ranked in the top 10 will make it outside of the top 3 and maybe Kuli/Cowen even then they wont be impact players

If Murray drafts BPA you can be sure we will not be taking Kadri. There will be better players available at 9th.

That's a matter of opinion, although I tend to agree with you, I don't think Murray does.

I think if OEL is available he'll take him, if not he'll take Kadri. & possibly even Cowen if he falls that far

I wouldn't mind if Ottawa drafted Jared Cowen or Ryan Ellis.

I guess my words were a bit too strong. Let me rephrase that:

If Murray drafts BPA, there's a very good chance that we will not be drafting Kadri as I believe there will be better players available at 9th.

I love the idea of Ryan Ellis but he's just not a good fit for Ottawa, because he would be another small defenseman along with Karlsson. I do think though Ellis is going to be a steal for whatever team picks him up

As Sens fans we should know that what management/scouting decides isn't always conventional wisdom (i.e Brian Lee, Erik Karlsson). I'm not that big of a Kadri fan either, but he has talented and is slated to go anywhere between 8 and 15, so it really wouldn't be all that much of a stretch to see us pick him at 9.

Meh... That's about market value for him considering what Orpik got. Volchenkov is wearing down physically IMO... I wouldn't sign him for more than 3.25.

But, with our logjam of dmen, I'd rather he was moved to make room for a true #1 (eg. JBo), with Kuba (#2), Phillips (#3), Lee (#4), Campoli (#5), Karlsson/Wiercoch/UFA (#6)

Man I'm excited. It's all rumours now though... I think I'll keep myself sheltered completely between now and the draft and by then hopefully something big has gone down.
