Lightning and Krajicek close to one-year deal

According to twitter:

Quote:
Just got off the phone with Assistant GM Claude Loiselle & the club is very close on a 1 year deal with Lukas Krajicek- Brian Lawton

I like the signing. One year, depth player. He better not be playing 20 mins a night again though, too much. 3rd pairing...

I want Cory Murphy back!

1 year deal is ok as long as its not for a crazy amount. Would be even better if its a 2 way deal somehow. Agreed though he should be thought as a 3rd pairing or 7th dman and nothing more.

I would have had Ramo as a higher priority to sign.

Meh, I dont really care for Krajicek. I dont hate, I dont love him. I def feel we could do better, but its not like we have endless possibilities either. So, I guess 3rd line, 1 yr isnt bad.

Krajicek started to heat up offensively in the last 20 games of the season and is solid defensively. I like it.

With our luck in recent times he could just as easily disappear too. I am fine with it as long as it makes some sense as far as a contract goes.

Isen't Eminger a UFA this year? Go after him instead. Krajicek isn't bad for a 6th dman....but I would rather Murphey in that spot

Tough to knock this as Kraijcek is an Arbitration eligible RFA. I'd guess the Lightning tendered him an offer to keep his rights and his agent accepted as a one year deal to get Lukas to UFA status next year.

Still won't surprise me if he's moved this offseason, especially if they want a more lasting look at Lashoff and/or Lundin. If they keep him, its still good depth to have that isn't breaking the bank.

Kraijcek isn't a top resign priority for me. Don't love or hate it if he's coming back, but I'd rather them use the money elsewhere.

He's depth and anything to stop us from raiding Norfolk's defense is a good thing for everybody, especially our #1 in Norfolk Helenius.

Exactly. We need someone like Krajicek who actually will play stay at home defense when needed. I know he's not a huge hitter but every team needs a guy like that.

I Second That Thought

If signing Kraijek means less raids on Norfolk's dmen this coming season, I'm all for the signing.

He can skate, he can move the puck, and he can eat 5-7 slot minutes.

If hes cheaper than 1.25, beautiful.

All the cool Chuck Norris like jokes aside(but are funny lol) I do not want Murphy back, period.

I'd be happy to welcome Krajicek back now that we have Victor Hedman.

Hedman - Meszaros
Ranger - Smaby
Krajicek - Lashoff
Lundin

While keeping in mind we also have Mihalik, Wishart and Quick in the AHL

I'd prefer that we sign Ohlund or someone else and let Smaby develop a little more in the AHL, ditto for Lundin. I like Smaby a lot but want him to work on his offensive skills more.

Smaby is a physical, stay at home defenseman where if you get any offense it's a bonus. He proved last year he's ready for the NHL. I'd like to see some signings on the blueline so he doesn't have to play as many minutes, but there's no need for him to go back to the AHL. It's a waste of time for him to go back to the AHL when his offense isn't needed. You've got guys that can contribute offensively on the blueline potentially in Hedman, Meszaros, Ranger...let Smaby focus on putting people on their ass.

+5 Couldn't say it better myself. To be honest we could use another D-man like Smaby, not take them away. To many O-Dman and not enough get any closer to my goalie and your going to get a good view of the roof D-men.

Exactly. And to be 100% honest I think Smaby turns his game up again this year and develops into a top 4 guy who can be our shutdown dman. A Smaby-Hedman pairing is tantalizing IMO.

I love you HF02. Smaby isn't an "offense first" guy, hes barely a "i have the puck" guy.

Kid is made to crush people.

Mihalik is like that too right? Just imagine Hedman, Smaby and Mihalik being in our top 7 in a few years, our D would be HUGE!
