Official NHL Draft Day Rumors Thread

Post all your rumors from around the league here so we don't have to search high and low to find them in other threads.

I'll kick it off with the following - Darren Dreger just tweeted the following:

Quote:
Trade talks for Chris Pronger are heating up.
http://twitter.com/darrendreger

No word as to who the other party may be. Perhaps this is the deal that was floated during the SC finals finally coming to fruition?

Muir is picking up on the same rumor and suggesting that it might be a return to St. Louis:

Quote:
Chris Pronger to the Blues? Could be. Looks like Niedermayer is coming back to the Ducks for one more season, and that means Pronger and his salary are on the way out.

We already have a thread for this. It's the signings and trades around the league thread.

Hopefully Pronger stays in the West. The guy is an absolute beast

You don't see it as desirable to keep rumors and signings in separate threads?

This one is draft-day specific. The old one from April is dead and buried.

Pronger to Philly maybe? Assuming they missed out on the JBo sweepstakes, they'll want a replacement. Pronger, being a dirtball himself, would fit right in in Philly.

LeBrn saying that 4 teams are actively after UFA-to-be JBo and that Philly is one of them:

Quote:
A source told ESPN.com that four NHL teams have seriously inquired about acquiring the rights for pending unrestricted free-agent defenseman Jay Bouwmeester.

The Philadelphia Flyers are among those four teams

Flyers have long been after Jaybo so I would believe this rumor. They are looking for a 3rd for his rights.

In the Globe and Mail draft day blog, we've got a new one (time included so that you can find the post in the interactive format):

Quote:
4:32 Sean Gordon: Ok folks, here's one that'll get the Habs fans among you going, there are rumblings that Bob Gainey is indeed close to a deal for the first-line centre he so badly wants, and no it isn't Vinny Lecavalier. Word around the campfire is it might even be a deal involving a certain pair of Swedish twins who currently play in Vancouver...

If Gainey gets both of them for anywhere near the money they want Habs fans are going to go ape-****

The #4 is available - get 'er done, Slats!

Quote:
5:02 TSN-Moderator: Gord Miller suggests the Atlanta Thrashers have made it known that their first pick (4th overall) is available. Ryan Rishaug notes that the Oilers are among the teams interested in the Thrashers pick.

I could see us making a big play for that pick with Girardi, Korpikoski, and the 19th pick.

That's fine. Then we swap with them for the 7 and take MPS.

Seems like a lot of people think the fishies will take Duchene with the 1st pick. Interesting.

My guess is the Rangers don't do anything and pick at 19.

Dreger says Nieds back to Ducks and "Kaberle deal to Toronto" is off... Not sure what that means, I guess it implies he stays in Toronto???

I think Matty Duchene will be a great player and would love for the Rangers to pick him up somehow but if the Isles get him I will be celebrating

Highly doubtful. I believe it was a TSN video, Waddell appears and says Burke was badgering him for the #4 pick, and referred to one of his emails as down right insulting. Burke did not offer nearly enough to Atlanta for that pick. They like where they are and are probably shopping it just to see if anyone will blow them away. The top 3 picks IMO ought to be the really pricey ones to acquire and Waddell is probably shopping it as if was for JT, VH, or MD.
