I want RAJALA for the 2nd round. Trade up to get him, I don't give a damn.

Our team will be run by midgets!

Jordan Schroeder:
Ranked 15th by TSN, 9th by the Hockey News, 14th by ISS, 11th by the Redline Report, 13th by McKeens, 5th amongst North Americans by CSB.

And we got him at 22nd.

May be a bit undersized, but has outstanding skill. ****ing A. Great pick, IMO.

Regardless of scemantics, its safe to say that the Canucks pick > Flames pick, at least at the first observation.

It seems to me that Cody Hodgson take at 10 in 2008 was really a steal. It is pretty unbelievable on how Gillis has taken the draft seriously, go with the next best player.

Now about that Patrick White guy...

Bit of a stretch for the Caps. Looks like they're continuing the Swede/Russian trend.

Two straight years where we get a player with First line potential. So much fun to actually have a future to look forward to.

J.Schroeder
2008-09 U. of Minnesota NCAA GP 35 G 13 A 32 P 45 PIM 29
P.White
2008-09 U. of Minnesota NCAA GP 36 G 7 A 9 P 16 PIM 18

With White on the same team you know the Canucks saw a lot of Schroeder this year, which makes me even more confident in the fact that they had him ranked much higher.

I love this pick, I could not be happier with it. I can only hope that tomorrow they do well to pick up another good prospect in the second.

The Hockey News #9: Jordan Schroeder

Critics contend Jordan Schroeder ran up his scoring totals against the weak teams at the world juniors and disappeared once his USA team faced the powers of the tournament. There is some truth to that, but it ignores the fact Schroeder had a productive season in college, finishing second on his team despite the fact he was an 18 year-old freshman. "The world juniors is fair criticism, but he also scored 45 points as one of the youngest kids in college," a scout said. "He has been a world-class player for the past three years." Schroeder has a tremendous package of skills that will trnslate well to the pro level if you can overlook the fact he's undersized. Some scouts have compared him to Brian Gionta. "Schroeder is an offensive machine," another scout said, "He's short and stocky, but his size doesn't affect him as much as it would other players because he has such a strong core."

Some of them are a little too young for my price range. I'd feel dirty.

anyone else frothing at the mouth just a little bit at the prospect of how dominant a Hodgson/Grabner/Schroeder line could be in several years?

Schroeder kicked ass as a freshman.

Also we will get to see a Canuck prospect in the WJC guaranteed this year.

Schroder to Everett???

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/200...90/1004/SPORTS

Quote:
Schroeder, a late birthdate 1990, is a high-scoring center from the University of Minnesota who is expected to be a lottery pick tonight. He also happens to be on Everett's protected list.

And I was told today by Everett general manager Doug Soetaert, who is in Montreal for the draft, that he just had his first face-to-face meeting with Schroeder. It was nothing formal, more a greeting than anything else, so Everett fans shouldn't get their hopes up. However, both parties have now put faces to voices heard over the phone.

It's still a longshot for the Tips to end up with Schroeder. Even if Schroeder decides to sign immediately with the team that drafts him, there's a chance he'll be able to jump straight to the NHL as a 19-year-old. But if he's picked by the right team (from an Everett standpoint), signs and is deemed not quite ready for the NHL, Everett will be the destination. Having Craig Hartsburg in place as coach certainly doesn't hurt Everett's attractiveness to potential recruits, either. So who knows, maybe there's glimmer of hope for the Tips.

Shroeder is a shoot-first sniper; he complements Hodgson AMAZINGLY.

Rajala would be nice, but the Canucks should look at another defensive prospect in the 2nd round unless the BPAs are forwards by a long shot.

God i'm so stoked on this pick right now

Thanks for posting, I was trying to dig this up as well... still can't believe he fell all the way to the 22nd pick, and I don't think Gillis could either!
