Even then, you're going to get a good player. C'mon, there's no way the Isles would **** that up...

...right?

Not the gathering of fans, but celebrating like an OT Game Seven winner was just scored? Blowing the goal horn? Really? Really?

I mean it is good to see Isles fans excited and this is a big moment for the franchise, but it is a lot of cheering for something that wasn't particularly suspenseful or surprising.
I thought the goal horn was awesome.

It's entirely possible that Snow's tight lips for the last two months were leading up to that moment FOR those in NVMC. There's no way the atmosphere is like that if everyone knows its Tavares. Instead of an average cheer for the obvious pick, he got jubilation... just by making us think he was gonna screw it up (Not to debate JT vs MD/VH all over again)

You have to understand that with our off the ice situation, this pick is basically going to be looked upon as the moment our franchise turned itself around.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Tavares is the pick that's going to create the buzz for Islanders hockey, Make a whole bunch of politicians go "oh, wait a minute, people DO care about the Islanders." And that will get an arena built.

That new arena, probably opening for 2015-16, will also mark the end of the SMG lease, which gives them $25 million a year (!!). We can go from dead last in revenue ($5 mil behind PHOENIX!) to top 10 in the league. Just tearing up the SMG lease alone would move us from 30th to 14th, with the second-oldest building in the league.

We could increase revenue by 75-100% between a new lease and a new arena creating new revenue streams and be the franchise we once were: One of the best in hockey.

When JT retires, you could be seeing "How John Tavares Saved the New York Islanders" stories. Hopefully, you'll see them as early as 2015.

That deserves a goal horn. That goal horn WAS for Game 7 OT winner... the NEXT one we score on Long Island. It also made sure that the Islanders' goal horn never goes off in Kansas City.

And if that sounds over-dramatic... take a look at that video again. Go to the 2:25 mark. Garth Snow says "With the first pick..." and WHAT is below the video on the message board of the scoreboard? It says "LighthouseLI.com," the name of our arena project.

What's wrong with a goal horn?

It's not like they played We Are The Champions.
