Wow, the Sens fan sure touched a nerve, judging by the testy responses of some Leafers.

It shows that in the back of your minds you still believe your initial negative reactions to Kadri, and that you still wish the Leafs took Cowen, though you are good at convincing yourselves that Kadri is the guy.

My team got the guy I wanted, thus most Sens fans = good mood.

So I'll believe it when I see it that Burke can build a team from the ground up to win a cup.
Wow coming from a sens fan this is just too easy to counter.. Whatever man, I know you're trying to make us feel bad but you failed miserably.

Not trying to make you feel bad at all.
Just pointing out that our teams have *BOTH* been failures.
Which is a hard fact for some of LeafsNation to accept.

Burke is IMHO not your salvation, and as I said before, I'll believe it when I see it.

Heres the point I'm trying to make.

Compare the drafting of Burke vs Murray for the next few years.
Lets come back in 3 and see whose organization has done a better job.

Some leaf fans bask in the glory of beating an expansion team from Ottawa that had a team salary 1/2 of the Leafs. So cool.
But neither team won a cup.

At least the Sens got to the cup final with some creative drafting and trades.

In comes Burke to Toronto saying he will create a new dynasty. But IMHO his drafting this yes was nothing special.

I don't believe he has the ability to construct an "Organization" in Toronto that will deliver the goods during his tenure.

Then again, at least the Leafs don't have their star players demanding trades... right?

Yep. Tho we all still don't know why.
And lets not get into how MLG treated Dave Keon over the years...

Hey, all I'm pointing out is that Kadri is a good pick for the Leafs. He comes from a good hockey program in London.

I'm a Montreal fan, but I would only be lying to myself if I said that Burke hasn't already taken some good steps for the Leafs. They will be a much improved team in the near future... will they win the Cup? Time will tell.

Probably because they would need a star in order for him to demand a trade...

Make this thread in a year.

Since none of the draft players have played a single second in the NHL this thread is absolutely pointless and useless and its stupid to ***** about should of taken this player over that.

Agreed.
But I don't think Burke's model for the make up of a team will work.

About Murray and Burke convo. I also think Murray bluffed Burke. Who knows Murray could be laughing his ass off right now
And this time next year Murray might be crying like a baby.

Burke actually wanted Kadri and took him. However, I don't think Murray had any intentions of drafting Kadri. I'm thinking Murray went up to Burke to ask him to trade up for possibly Cowen or MPS and before negotiations went through, Burke said "we're taking Kadri". Murray left knowing he was going to get one of MPS or Cowen because of that and there was nothing to talk about.

How do you figure? We'll have elite Puck moving D corps in a few years...

This will be fun to bump in a year or two. I like the fact that Kadri is underrated and generally hated by the rest of the leagues fans.

Sounds like a Maple Leaf already.

Sounds like Burke just wants to turn the Leafs into the Ducks..

"I think it shows our commitment to size and toughness," Burke said Saturday. "I can predict with some confidence that we're going to take similar strides once July 1 comes. This won't address our immediate need for size and toughness -- we'll do that later in the summer.

"I think people should read into it that we're not just talking the talk about this. We intend to be bigger and cruder."

Most of us wanted MPS or any offensively gifted forward over a defensive defenseman one with a bad knee such as Cowen

However I think Jared will be a great #2 defenseman for you guys !

Seems like most of the Burke/OTT/TOR discussion that has any meat to it has been covered by now, the rest is just heading down the tubes, so I'll close this thread and invite interested parties to continue the discussion elsewhere.
