Thanks for the thread, it was what I was exactly looking for. Number 5 was great for laughs too

No doubt, but I was referring here to the team as presently constituted.

Wait...what?

12 NHL teams gave up fewer goals than Los Angeles, and only two scored fewer.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/standi...nst&order=true

EDIT: They gave up fewer goals than Philadelphia, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, and Detroit...while their goaltending corps consisted of:

Jonathan Quick (rookie)............44 games
Erik Ersberg (2nd year in NA).....28 games
Jason Labarbera.......................19 games

Love the Canes last 2 picks right now.
Demoulin is a project but he could be a top 4 defenseman in 5 years or so. One of the youngest guys in the draft so they can take their time letting him develop, hopefully.
Lindstrom, while raw, looks like a possible Holmstrom or Swedish Lucic, at the very least a Swedish Craig Adams.
I like Paradis' upside. He's a big body who can skate(and big bodies up front seemed like a theme for you guys in this draft), uses his size, has long reach and a great shot. There aren't many forwards I would have taken over him at that spot.

I thought you guys did real well at the draft. There were a couple picks(like Lindstrom) that you made that I kind of wanted to see the Panthers make. I liked what my own team did as well. Lot of teams did well I thought, actually. Only a few that I wasn't impressed with. Which probably speaks in part to the strength of this draft.

Im also going to go with you havent looked at their farm either. Why waste good assets of the future for something RIGHT NOW? The kings could very well be a shocking team in the next year or two. Wait till their defense ages a little and we'll see what happens. Having guys like Hicket, Teubert, Doughty, and Johnson help a lot and I dont see the point in adding Kaberle. If they wanted an offensive defenesman with a hefty contract they would have just kept Vishnovsky last year. They didnt, move on.

i was upset with the DeHaan pick, but you gotta think that snow spoke with a GM 12-15 and they said they wanted him. So I can't really fault them for moving up to draft the guy they wanted. I'd rather have Kassian or Kulikov though.

It's a dynamic process. People get too hung up on the "perceived" draft order. It's not like it's the code of Hammurabi or something.

Snow put himself in a good position to be able to do what he did, get the defenseman he wanted. Hard to argue with that.

That is a bit funny, but isn't he a Colorado fan?

Yeah the fist bump was cuz he knew he'd be going to Colorado.

He was a smiley boy on stage too. More so than any of the other prospects.

Hedman:

This thread lost all legitimacy when you said the Kings should've traded the 5th overall for Kaberle.

I think you're reading something wrong/getting your information from the wrong place.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm...ewName=summary

LA is 11th in GAA. That's in the top 15, hence, above average.

Uhm....where is it you're from that counting to 15 doesn't include #11?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/stats/by...stats&sort=444

And we were #4 in the league in shots allowed - after being dead last the previous season:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/stats/by...ype=0&sort=423

DL has been drafting defensemen and Goalies for a few seasons now. We're miserably weak on blue-chip forwards. #5 was a good pick.
