Winding down? He's 28.

Very and I mean VERY overrated, But would be a good signing. That being said, who's gonna fill out there Offense?.

Do they even have the cash to sign this guy?

Vandermeer is Calgary's Randy Jones

The defense as a whole looks good but I'm one of those who don't get all the J-Bo hype. He's good but by no means turns a perennial first round loser into a Cup contender.

Now I'm even more excited for the Olympics! As long as Bouwmeester signs, him and Phaneuf will have a few months of experience working together before the Olympics!

Is Sutter trying to get every Edmontonian to play for the Flames?
I'll laugh if he balks and waits until Free Agency

There is no way the Flames sign him, someone is going to go way over the top for him in free agency.

The key difference is we have gone from zero chance of signing a UFA D-man to "some" chance of signing one and a pick. Leopold is also a former teammate of Ballard, a player we're currently building around.

Playing like a 35 year old. Leopold's game has really declined fast the past few seasons. He's not very good and has slid from a top pairing guy to a borderline second or third pairing guy. If I were Florida I wouldn't want him.

No kidding! Sutter isn't exactly a savvy guy when it comes to managing the cap. Something's gotta give here with another trade, especially because we still need a couple top 6 wingers.

Cammy gone, Bertuzzi gone, Aucoin gone, Leopold gone - that's like $8 millionish off the books

You better hope that Ballard can light a fire under Leopold. If he does it could work out for Florida, but I think Leopold will be in a Wild jersey soon.

When did Bouwmeester sign with Calgary? He's not going to be a Flame if Sutter cannot sign him.

they did so well at the end of last year that they have decided next season they will only use 16 skaters for every game...Jaybo...totally worth it

I wouldn't. A third round pick and an expired contract isn't a huge price to pay.

move or demote primeau and vandermeer... frees up another 3.7 million... threy could trade sarich (i hate that idea) and re-sign Aucoin... they have guys coming off the books but don't have many roster openings

Luc, you should be more concerned about how the Canucks are going to come up with $13 million per for the twin-kies and how they are going to find $8 million plus for Luongo. Those are the issues that should be spinning around inside your head and giving you heartburn. I think its funny to see you, a fan of the team that was certain to be grabbing Boumeester's rights, are now trying to wallow in the failure of another team when they achieved what yours did not. Your bitterness is pretty transparent. I'm jealous as hell from an Oilers perspective but its okay to feel good for a rival when they do something right. Sutter just continues to make the moves and get the players he wants at a ridiculously good value. Good on him.
