Whoa! How are they going to fit Bouwmeester's deal?

If the Flames can sign J-BO, their big three on D is monsterous.

Awesome !!!!
A defense with Bouwmeester-Phaneuf-Regehr, we'll have a "monster" defense

Trade Vandermeer or put him in the minors OR just go with a top 6 D corps that may be the best in the league.

IF we signed Bouwmeester and no one else then maybe a lineup like this:

Kipper McElhinney

Phaneuf/Regehr
Sarich/Bouwmeester
Giordano/Vandermeer
Pelech

Backlund/Langkow/Iginla
Bourque/Jokinen/Moss
Glencross/Conroy/Boyd
Nystrom/Primeau/Chucko

Yeah Baby! I believe Sutter traded down and got that extra third rounder to go to FLA for the rights. That trading down looks pretty good now...

If he signs our D looks great: Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Regehr, Sarich, Giordano, Vandermeer and one of Negrin or Pelech imo... Tough in Reggie, Sarich and Vandermeer and puck moving in Phaneuf, Bouwmeester and Giordano.

Aucoin is as good as gone.

Big Score indeed...

Gotta work some cap magic to get in into the fold, but it's workable.

Leopold was as good as gone anyway.

We could allegedly fit under the cap with the following:

Borque - Langkow - Iginla
Backlund - Jokinen - Moss
Nemisz - Conroy - Glencross
Nystrom - Peters - Boyd
Van der Gulik

Phaneuf - Bouwmeester
Regehr - Sarich
Giordano - Vandermeer
Pelech / Negrin

Kiprusoff
McElhinney

I would dig to see if we can bring in three rookies, Backlund - Nemisz and a D man. With three veteran centres and a more solid D with Jay Bo it might be possible. I am liking the team more every day.

Sutter is definitely putting the team in a position to compete hard with the very best teams. Gotta give him credit for that.

Nemisz is not NHL ready and let's let Backlund develop as a CENTER!

I think we still need to sign Knuble/Bertuzzi or another 1.5-2.5 million forward

He is always good at making attractive deals.

This is his best feature as GM. Some say his only plus.

I don't see how you can look at those line combos and not throw up in your mouth a little. Seriously that has got to be one of the worst forward group in the leaugue. Last year FLA had Jaybo, McCabe, and Ballard, Boynton as their top four and didn't make the playoffs - I would take those guys over CGY's top four, the D is not going to carry the team. This just doesn't look like a good team anymore.

why not...if they play real good defense and get good goaltending from Kipper they'll do well

Igina, Jokine, Langkow are legit front line players

On top of that they get decent secondary scoring from Bourque, Moss and Glencross...

only problem i see is any of the young players are ready to step up to help? this is where ****ed up drafting screws Sutter

you don't know much do you?... the Flames scoring would only be down marginally from the start of last season as Jokinen fo ra full season replaces Cammalleri and then no Bertuzzi

It doesn't matter if you hanging head first over a combine harvester or sitting at a desk, a signature is a signature.

theres going to be a lot of desperate moves made by sutter this off season. if the team doesn't make the second round half of his family may be unemployed.

i still can't believe that people on this board believe this teams in the same class as the wings, hawks, pens, caps, flyers, and bruins. give your heads a shake, next season will be the same song and dance about ya geeze we're still getting better and uh um i feel our best years are ahead of us remember the cup run of 04? a ya theres still some of us from that team still here so there is like lots of potential.

of course im sure ill be deleted for my comments while we all discuss how the sutters won't let us down

Very interested in see'ing how this will work. I thought we were out of the Jay-Bo sweepstakes due to the salary cap. Quite the turn of events.

I agree on all accounts. I think Langkow could move to wing, which is where he played towards the end of the year due to his wrist injury. Boyd should also be given a chance to play on the 3rd line at LW.
