Who is more ready now?

I did see any thread but feel free to merge.
I would like to know if any of this year draft could make the Jump?
Could we have an 18 year old sneak in the line up? with all the spots open on the team it's possible. I'm talking here of playing decent minutes on the top 6 or top 4 pairing.

Maybe if Timmins is serious, Avtsyn could crack Hamilton in the fall, and end up playing a handfull of NHL games, but this is a huge longshot.

I have never seen this guy. Having said that I don't fallow russian leagues either.
From what I have heard, he played a level bellow the elite league. Good size and all but on the wing, he would have to impress big time. The question is, can he?

Also, would he be too young for the AHL?

The rule is only for CHL players. Pacioretty and Andrei Kostitsyn both played in the AHL at 19.

Age limit for the AHL, is only for CHL prospects.

I can't see any draft pick on the Habs next year or beyond. The Habs need not to rush guys and I hope we have a roster that doesn't have open spots for rookies.

don't get me wrong here, it would be nice to have someone capable to step in and have and impact but this is more likely to happen on a weaker team. I guess what I'm realy saying or asking is, can one of this pick come in and have an impact.
Also, Thanks for clearing thing up in reguard to age rules. I'm realy happy to hear this.

I'm not worried. I must admit that next season could be a tough no doughs about it. I'm willing to cheer them at all cost. With this cap hockey era, I'm glad Bob is not trowing millions left, right and center.

I don't see any of the players selected by Montreal to play in the NHL before season 2011-12. This team as a huge list of older prospects that will get their chance before.

I always thought there was some sort of age limit in the AHL which wouldn't allow him to go there. That's why it was either Mtl or Drummondville at the time.

I guess I'm wrong heh

Your right, there's an age limit, that's why I said

So only prospects from the CHL have an age limit to play in the AHL. It's the CHL rule, all CHL prospects have to be 20 before Jan 1st of any season or have played 4 full season in the CHL in order to play in the AHL.

Lats it was either the Habs or Volts since he was 19. Avtsin could play in Hamilton tomorrow if he wanted to since he's not from the CHL.

Right, this is where I failed. I thought CHL was a different league than QMJHL.

HOPEFULLY, we let the players drafted take their time to develop properly, which could mean at a minimum 3 years and i'd like to say 4 years just to be on the safe side.. The last thing we need to do is rush players to the league, again.

He's probably counting guys like Sergei Kostitsyn, D'Agostini, Stewart, Pacioretty, Chipchura, Weber and maybe even O'Byrne as guys that don't have spots locked up for next year, so there's going to be some "open" spots. That's 7 spots right there if all make the team (out of 23), so I'd say there's little room for even a surprise candidate like Subban or McDonagh to enter the mix, let alone an 18 year old drafted in a lower round in this last year's draft.
