HFBoards TOP 100 ranking: Forwards #18

Now that the season and playoffs are over, I thought we'd do an "HFBoards ranking" for each position.

So basically, who (of the following) is the best forward in the NHL? ie. which forward would you want on your team for next year only? (independent of their respective salary)

Vote away.

Ranking so far

1. Ovechkin
2. Malkin
3. Crosby
4. Datsyuk
5. Kovalchuk
6. Iginla
7. Getzlaf
8. Zetterberg
9. Thornton
10. Lecavalier

11. Parise
12. E.Staal
13. M.Richards
14. Nash
15. Heatley
16. Hossa
17. Alfredsson

Savard easily. A man who has been top 10 in scoring 3 of the last 4 years, and led his team in scoring by WIDE margins the last 3 years straight is better than the likes of Nash and Hossa.

Add Havlat.
He led a very good Chicago team in scoring, while playing on the "checking line."

Savard definately isn't #18, I have absolutely NO idea why guys like Nash, Hossa, Richards or even Staal are ranked so damn high.

This whole poll is ridiculous, voted on with a "what have you done for me lately" mentality and it's getting stupid. It's likely that either 46G(2nd in goals) scorer Jeff Carter or 88pt Backstrom(10th in points), both with tremendous 2way games will likely be left out of the top 20.

Somehow though:
Marian Hossa who has averaged 34G-68pt in last 2 seasons and scored a whopping 3A's in the Finals has been ranked #16.

Mike Richards who has averaged 29G-77pts in last 2 seasons and scored 5pts en route a 1st round defeat has been ranked #13.

Rick Nash a guy who still hasen't hit over 80pts after 6 full NHL seasons, has been ranked #14.

Get this **** outta here, its embarrassing.

To be fair, Richards hit those point totals while losing out to Datsyuk for the Selke in one of the closest races ever. And yes, they lost in the first round, but they gave a tough first round to the eventual champions.

Hossa and Nash, I have no idea. I wouldn't rank either in my top 20.

So, you are complaining about people voting with a "what have you done for me lately" mentality, and then you complain about Jeff Carter missing out on the top 20 because he had 1 great season?

Edit: And all three of the players you listed have better 2 year averages than Carter.

Hossa > Carter and Backstrom
Richards > Carter and Backstrom
Nash > Carter and Backstrom

I agree with you its ridicilous that Nash is already there though.

And this poll once again reaches a new low... Savard over St. Louis?

A Hart, Pearson, Art Ross, and Cup champion isn't better than a guy who... what has Savard done in his career, again? Laugh out loud hilarious HFBoards.

You serious? Savard has more points than most players on the list in the past 3-4 seasons, and he never had a Lecavalier on his line. Best he ever had in Boston was Glen Murray.

Savard has 1.12 pts/game since the lockout

St.Louis has exactly 1.00 pt / game since the lockout

Thats about 10 pts MORE on average per season than St.Louis.

sooooooo, yeah. Care to reconsider?

1 great season, that is really better than anything that Hossa or Richards, especially have ever done. When was the last time either of those 2 have been 2nd in goal scoring in the league?

Oh and I've watched plenty of Philadelphia games and honestly Richards defensive play is vastly overrated. He's good, but Datsyuk is far superior and that race had no right being as close as it was.

Huh? I mean Richards has had 2 great seasons now, and Hossa has had over 10 great season. Plus both those guys are 2 of the best defesive forwards in the game, while Carter is not.

ANyway, say what you want, man.
