Good luck to Gandler lol

I'd re-sign Antropov at 4/3 years.

He's certainly not worth 5 mill tho.

I guess I'll be the first and only to say that I don't think it's ridiculous for him to be asking for $5 million at this stage. three days away from when he hits the open market it will take a pretty good offer to lock him up. things tend to get crazy on July 1.

Really?

Malone 214P in 369GP - .579PPG
Antropov 304P in 527GP - .576PPG

Malone has 5 more PPG than Antro, yet Nik has played about 150 more games. 11SHG versus 3SHG too..

I don't think one is significantly better than the other, but Malone is the better all-around hockey player. More physical, solid on the PK, better on the PP, and is statistically, the better shooter.

But we're all entitled to our own opinions, I guess..

Yeah, but career stats are sort of irrelevant. Lets look at post lockout numbers, which is more to the point, and only covers when both of them had broken out and were top six players.

Antropov 179P in 264 GP = .678 PPG
Malone 171P in 288 GP = .593 PPG

I'm not saying it means that much, but you were the one who said that Malone has a better PPG than Antropov. There's room for disagreement on intangibles, but I think Antropov is just as deserving of a big contract as Malone was - take that for what its worth.

Gandler is up to his old tricks. He has been quiet since Yashin went to Russia.
Here's hoping the Rangers get Antropov signed to about a 6 year contract.

It will be funny to see all the GM's overpaying for these hyped up free agents, then come crying back to Murray when no one else is available

The thing is, Antropov isn't anywhere near as hyped as, say, Ryan Malone, who got 4M after a stellar playoff run no less. Antropov hasn't proved anything in the playoffs, either.

I'd rather have Alex Burrows @ 2.5M than this piece of crap.

Antropov deserved 3.5 at max. I think he'll get 4+ but whoever signs him at that price will end up regretting it

Ok lets compare here for fun.

Antropov = 5mil /Points 59
Danny Sedin = 6mil / Points 82
Hank Sedin = 6mil / Points 82

Sedins constant 80 point guys year after year.
Antropov can't break 60 Point's and is not Consistent in any form.

So why in the hell would Antropov think he could get 1mil (1.5mil) Less then one of the sedins considering his past?.

What a joke of a offer.

stop trolling you have a thing against the rangers why dont you give yourself an infraction. as youve done to several others

I want everyone in this thread to be aware that this moderator has an obvious dislike for the rangers and he just trolled

if youre as principled as you claimed to be lets see you give yourself an infraction. and im not being disrespectful. Im giving you the opportunity to hold yourself to the standard you hold others to

The Sedins deserve at least 7 mil each if they take a five year or so contract. Thats a big step up price-wise from what Antropov is asking.

It is a joke of an offer but one would be quick to point out that the Sedin's take discounts to remain together.

Who would have thought Chris Drury would command 7+ on the UFA market a few days before July 1st, 2007? Jeff Finger getting 3.5?

Anything can happen in the UFA market, GMs will overpay for their needs if they have to.

Its the truth though. Are you going to try and deny that Sather consistently overpays UFAs?

There will certainly be overpayment somewhere on Wednesday, but I would hope it wouldn't be for someone like Nik Antropov. Yeah I know Finger got huge money, but I think the combination of the bad economy, the great unknown salary cap of 2010-11 and the fact so many teams seem to have albatrosses on their cap already (some have multiple) should keep the overpayments to the truest impact players on the market.

One can hope.
