I have my rope and a tree picked out already. Now the choice between hanging myself, Gainey, or Gomez if that comes true.

Hahahaha. Look on the bright side, if it's true, you can have Brian Gionta and reunite them. Maybe Gionta will remember how to put the puck in the ******* net again. But don't count on it.

I can't see how Gainey would evaluate Gomez or Briere, with their contracts, as better options than Koivu at the kind of money he'd likely settle for.

But heck, speaking of the kind of money that Koivu would likely settle for (well, just wild-ass speculatively anyway), even if I was trying to trade for a pricey #1 centre, then Koivu would still be an almost perfect #2. I don't know why you wouldn't want both. And then just in case the first venture failed to pan out, at least you'd still have Koivu as insurance.

Confidence... eroding... must not... believe... crazy internet stories...

Hopefully Vinny was just a smokescreen and we're really going after the twins.

Add that Tanguay is on the market since Sunday.

Talking to 5 teams.

Maybe Tanguay wanted too much or maybe they're making room to overpay for someone else

The only way I agree to this, is if the deal is Gomez + 1st for Hamerlik

Well Gainey is not interested in Briere per earlier reports, and LeCavalier to Montreal is getting old, maybe a deal with Boston?

Or is it really a deal for Gomez and his 16 goals a season? Gomez and UFA Gionta?

Maybe a deal with Flames for Langkow? Flames trying to sign Jay-Bo

What will he do if Sedins won't come to Montreal? Antropov?

should be interesting and I can not wait.

Theres no reason why to not resign Tanguay. The guy was simply superb with us.

Gainey has specifically stated that his priority is a center with good size, he's said that's what will be addressed through trading.

So please everyone refrain from bringing up the following names

1. Briere
2. Gomez

Because it's not what the habs need, if that's the case, I'm sure gainey would rather just keep Koivu for a shorter and cheaper contract and wait one more year until some quality centers are available through UFA.

Speculation is fun, but please use some logic.

Players which make sense

Richards(for salary reasons, doubt dallas wants to rid of him though)
Thornton or Marleau (considering their lack of playoff success)
Arnott(doubt it though because preds fans love him and he pretty much is their offense)
Lecavalier
Jokinen
