Kadri vs Paajarvi-Svensson

So, i know it's way too early to do comparisions between these two, but does anyone's impression of these guys change after the draft?

I know that I, for one, had MPS ranked higher earlier, but after hearing both my GM (Bryan Murray) and another team's GM (Brian Burke) rank Kadri higher, it made me question my original belief.

So, after hearing that two well known and successful NHL GM's prefer Kadri over MPS, who do you think is better?

MPS is going to be a better player IMO. I think he has 30-40 goal potential.

For a long while I had MPS slightly over Kadri, but that switched before the draft, and the results backed it up. I see Kadri scoring more goals.

i don;t see kadri as number one centre, not really a two way player, probably a mike comrie like career IMO, but who knows...

MPS is a first line winger IMO, with size

Right. We've been going to the draft for decades to call out the names of future piano movers and the one time lady luck smiles on us you're complaining?

Too soon to tell, hopefully they'll both be terrific NHL players.

I'm more happy they didnt select Cowan actually. You will see why in a few years. They totally need a defencemen like that.

MPS by miles...

Oilers you guys got yourself something good. I think the entire Northwest division is happy with their picks. (except maybe Minnesota).

I just hope they don't rush him. But since Tambalini took over, i doubt it.

Well said.

I think Toronto screwed themselves once again with the 1st round pick... Just because Murray was going to take Kadri then Burke had to use his 7th overall to piss of Murray?

Even if Kadri turns out to be good player i think Svensson will be more complete player.

There is no option for a Leafs fan to vote MPS?

Proof please, otherwise it's a ridiculous and ignorant claim. GMs don't screw themselves over just to spite other GMs, especially in the 1st round.

And Kadri is a good 2-way player as of now. Just needs to improve his shot and top speed, and polish his defence (who doesn't?).

Tough call since anyone here is just taking a wild stab at their guess and probably really hasn't seen both players for any amount of time.
I've only seen Kadri play and I must admit my opinion of him is nothing but glowing.
I know the CHL success doesn't equate to NHL success but Kadri was the centrepiece that Mark Hunter demanded in the Steve Mason trade!
I think B Burke was blowing smoke when he said he was trading up for B Schenn or taveres. Burke had his sights on Kadri and by talking Schenn or Taveres he lowered Leaf Nation expectations on Kadri!

The Leafs got a really good one in Kadri.

Interesting to me as I see these 2 guys as the 2 guys with the highest potential to "bust" out of the top 10.

I'd personally take MPS, but I'm not overly high on him. After reading the hype on him for a year or 2 leading up to the draft and then getting a chance to watch him a little bit, he just isn't as good as the hype led me to believe he was. He also dropped from a "top 3" guy to barely staying in the top 10 over the course of the past 12 months.

And Kadri? I'm just not a fan. I think he's lazy and his skill set isn't overly high compared to NHL level. I think he's gonna struggle to live up to 1st round status when all is said and done.

(I didn't vote for either in the poll).

I see both being equal.

Kadri is a C and Paajarvi is a W.

Kadri was rated higher. He's underrated as well. Played better than Tavares in the OHL playoffs.

There's no option for them being pretty much identical in current and projected talent so I didn't vote.

I'm not attacking or trolling. But I'm wondering what press clipping, scouting projection or "other" that would make you think Kadri is lazy?
The only negative I can find written about the kid is that he sometimes doesn't use his linemates.

The only knock on Kadri has been inconsistency. There are nights where he dominates, he just needs to bring that game all the time.

He was said to be the best player on the ice during the WJC camps last year before he broke his jaw. Not playing really saw his stock drop.

Not that I care too much, I enjoy having an underrated prospect for once, though I suspect that will change once the season starts and he's expected to lead a depleated Knights team. He'll be overrated soon enough with the Leafs.
