Ellis and Budish!!

Awesome!! We got another defenseman to add to our already best in the league depth of defensemen. This one should be amazing as well!! I just hope he can put on an inch or two and 20 pounds, but Poile is definitely not rushing him, so he will have time.

Also,
Budish should be great as well!! He is 6'3'' 225 pounds. Plays football to, but will most likely be a hockey player for now on. He had an injury that set him back last year, but was projected as a first rounder at seasons start. He could be a great steal and may look very very good beside Wilson one day soon. I like him for sure!

The Preds have a great scouting staff and obviously select best player available regardless of position.

Ellis was my personal fav prospect from this draft.

Budish was another savvy pick and with a few "IFs", could be a great pick - If he stays healthy, IF he sticks with hockey over football, and IF his skating continues to improve enough to function in the big leagues!

Possibly the shrewdest pick of the draft for Nashville was just after Budish when they selected Charles-Olivier Roussel. He was my big sleeper for the draft and might some day remind Preds' fans of one Shea Weber!

Throw in Beck, Latta and Nick Oliver (amongst the others) and Nashville had one of the best drafts!

Just stopping by to say that I loved the Preds draft, Budish and Roussel were two of my favorites. Oh, and that Ellis guy isn't terrible either.

I'm not down with Specialists, I'd rather have complete players

Are you refering specifically to Ellis or all three?

Also a fan of complete players. See avatar.

at worst he'll be a specialist. i've been pleasantly surprised by footage i've seen of him and his physicality. he's built like a young jordin tootoo.

there's no reason he can't be a rafalski caliber d-man.

FYI, Nick Oliver and Zach Budish are good friends. I imagine they'll be traveling to the prospect camp together. The US had a dismal showing at the Ivan Hlinka last summer, but the first thing you should know is that the only time the US looked productive is when they had Budish and Oliver together on the top PP unit. I'm sure that's where the bulk of the scouting on Oliver (and even Budish) came from. They have good chemistry, so hopefully they'll have the opportunity to use it sometime in the future.

Meanwhile, they'll have a couple years of trying to kill eachother playing for rival schools Minnesota and St. Cloud State!
