I am going to plan your pre-post funeral arrangements after I pre-prepare the post-pre-pre-post-pre-weapon I'm pre-going to post-use to pre-destroy post-you! And then pre-heat the oven to 360 for a post-midnight snack!
Dude, you totally lost me early on... I've got a headache.
I guess I was wrong about something and only YOU know what I was wrong about. Addressing problems on blue line was more important then Mike freaking Knuble. Mike can have a long term deal with some other team, not us. We can afford to lose his presence in front of the net.
I wanted JayBo (still do) Flyers went for Pronger (who knew?). D needed upgrade. It was done. We paid a very high price imo.
Whats more important now is to address back up. Emery is a good goalie but I think it is important to get a very good back up and shut down 3rd line center. I know, I know you like Mike Knuble. bla bla bla
You may not agree with me -- what else is new -- but, in the short term, IMO Pronger gives the Flyers a better shot to win the Cup than J-Bo does... Down the line, losing Sbisa and the two #1s could bite them in the arse. If Pronger is signed for five or so seasons here, and can be close to what he's been, there can be plenty of shots at the Cup over that span... While I wanted J-Bo also, I have decided to see what shakes out whis Chris; I really love his game... which is a Super Hatcher with O.
The D is now fine, as you said, at a high price... I'm happy with that THIS year, at least... I agree that the backup goalie is important, as is the 3rd line center... But I see that center being here already in Powe, or maybe Richards if Briere or Giroux takes a top spot... What I think we need is a #4 center who can move up -- like Metro did -- and step in to take key faceoffs and play wing in key spots... taking Briere's spot(?).
I do however still see a need for two top nine forwards... at least one. And yes, I want Knuble as one... and wouldn't mind Recchi as another.
In any case, I'm on board with the O&B, no matter what Homer does... As I'm sure are you.
Hey guys, I say in advance that I don't understand so much about salary things and don't know how much he will ask for signing, but what do you think about trying to sign Antropov that last year had $ 2,2 milions salary if we let Knuble go away?

He is 29 and more prolific than Mike.
Thanks in advance
Antropov is said to be looking for 5 mil, which is absolutely ****ing hilarious.
What would be more hilarious...is somebody giving it to him.
OFFER FOR ZHERDEV; ANTROPOV LIKELY OUT

Antropov, who scored seven goals in 18 regular-season games for the Blueshirts but was barely a factor in the first-round defeat by Washington, earned $2.05 million last year. He's believed seeking a long-term deal for at least $5 million per. Good luck to him.
The Flyers can get Steve Eminger back if they'd like. He wasn't even given a QO by the Panthers
I wouldn't have a problem with that or bringing Ossi back. I don't think either will happen but it would be interesting to see how a team that's loaded on the blueline, something we haven't seen here since '87, and a little thinner up front does.
I don't think Carle and Jones will be strict salary dumps. I think they want to make a hockey deal.
Name to look out for in a potential trade of either: Eric Belanger
Yeah, but I think they have to be realistic. Jones is borderline worthless with this past season.
I think Carle is a solid player, but he's been traded twice in the past year or so, this would be 3x, he's not going to get a whole lot and he has a pretty big deal.

Jones' contract also expires after this coming season. I'd rather keep Carle until I know Pronger is re-signed.
Should Pronger not sign on the dotted line, at least we have a capable guy to fill the 2nd pairing.
If Pronger walks, and Carle (and Jones?) are traded...that leaves a huge gaping hole going in to next season.

So, now you are saying that I am against Pronger? (I think we overpaid but he is one hell of player, Ducks gave much less 3-4 years ago)
Is this guy something or is he something? lol

lol at that.. Recchi or Knuble ha? It's ok, get your self a wall paper and fantasies as much as your can in a privacy of your own house.
I have no clue, but I'd hope Plekanec would be in there somewhere.
I was thinking Plekanec at first too, but I feel like le Habs value him a ton. I ended up settling on Halak, Lapierre, and a 1st for Briere as what I'd be ok with. I'm really terrible with valuing trades though, so maybe I'm way off.

True, but there's a flip side to that coin. If we trade both Carle and Jones, and Pronger doesn't resign, we will have $12.43M in cap space, quite a bit of which could be used to fill that gaping hole. And we'd still have a top-3 of Timonen, Coburn and Parent, so its not a total disaster if that scenario plays out.
I'd rather trade both Carle and Jones and hedge my bets that we could either a) Resign Pronger, or b) Use Pronger's cap space to go after another defenseman if we can't ink him to a contract.
Jones isn't as important to me, cause he's off the books after this season anyway, but Carle needs to be off the books too. If we can move him and use his cap hit to help this season, while clearing off his cap hit for the 2010-11 season, I'm all for it.
The problem with keeping Carle if Pronger leaves is that you're replacing him with 2 completely different defenseman. Unless Marshall or Bourdon come in like world beaters, it's still going to be a need.

Yeah but it's better than having nothing.
I think most of us are still pretty sure that we're resigning Pronger anyways.

Ditto. That's why I shy away from proposals and such.

True, but it's too many personnel changes for my liking to a team trying to compete for the Cup.

If Jones is healthy at the start of camp, other than being overpaid for a 5th guy...I have no problem if he's here next year.

Homer needs to end the love affair and use that money to build a 3rd line.
Other than waiving him, I don't know how else you'd alleviate the team of his contract (assuming that Carle is moved).

Yeah, I know. But at least you have a guy fully capable of filling in the role as a top 4. I think it would be too much to ask of Marshall and/or Bourdon to step in and play long tough minutes...on a team supposedly competing to win it all.

Understandable, and very valid point.

Agreed. I would prefer to move both, to be quite honest, BUT...if I had to choose, I'd move Carle first, for reasons I listed earlier in the thread. I can live with Jones on the 3rd pairing this year.
