Guess that was to be expected. They can still work longer deals if desired, right?

Corey Potter and Brian Boyle as well.

It seems that Potter is going to get a legit shot at making the team out of camp. Brian Boyle can go **** himself. I don't get at all why we need him. We could have signed depth in FA easily. Oh well. Not the end of the world.

As for the big 3 signed here, none are even mildly shocking. The only one that had even the slightest chance of leaving was Korpedo, but he was solid considering it was only his first year in the NHL.

Yes, and they will. The QO is just a necessary step so that we retain their rights come July 1st. Hopefully Sather has been talking to them before this and hopefully they will be signed before Wednesday. If not, then other teams can give them offer sheets.

What the Rangers accomplished is they retained the rights to these players. The players can now sign the qualifying offer or continue negotiations on multi year deals. If we didn't qualify, those players would become UFA on July 1 (like Sjostrom) and any team can sign them without us matching or getting compensation. The QOs aren't binding for the players in a monetary sense, but it does mean that they remain restricted free agents.

So Greg Moore was never going to make the big team,so why on earth did we not try to get something for him at the draft, Lombardi managed to offload his garbage for picks.

You honestly think we could get anything for Greg Moore? P.A. Parenteau is two times the player and we got him for a 7th round pick. Why would any team trade for him to begin with, and especially a week before they can get him for nothing?

I think Dubi and Cally reject their offers.

Just my opinion though.

Rangers need to do whatever they can to re-sign Dubinsky and Callahan. Both are extremely good young players with upside. Teams are going to be circling on July 1st.

Well, if we keep bringing the same people back, at what point do we bring up the youth? It is because we brought the youth up that we even know who Dubinsky and Callahan are.

Someone in Hartford can play 4th line wing and maybe can flourish and open some eyes.

Sjostrom isin't exactly mats sundin himself , and he skates better than any "youth" on our team.

Agreed. Not to mention, the Rangers could save something like 300K to find a replacement. Obviously that chump change for the Dolans, but every little bit helps in a salary cap.

That someone has gotta be Byers. I feel like the Rangers expect him to be ready to make the jump, regardless of the injury last year, hence the clearing of space on the 4th line.
