"We have five teams where we think there's a possibility"-Gainey

Gainey is still working tirelessly to land a number one centerman

"We have five teams where we think there's a possibility. It might be good one or it might not be good. Sometimes you have to entice the offer you made to them to get a deal done."

Lecavalier, Jokinen, Brière and Marleau seem to be the most obvious choices. Can't think of another one right now.

Briere isn't a big #1 center, so he's out. Carter may be considered one. Same for Gomez.

This five teams comment make me even more scared. It means Gainey is betting the house and has nothing firm right now.

It just says Bob is looking for a number 1 center, not a big one.

Looks like the status quo has finally changed!

I am soo happy to hear him say that you sometimes have to throw in further enticements to get a deal done then what you initially offered. Sometimes you HAVE to overpay to get what you want. It's like that old joke: a woman will pay half off for soemthing she doesn't need and a man will pay twice as much for something he does.

I think we're going to get our guy, and we all know of whom I speak!

I'd have Marleau before Gomez. He has 1 year left at 6.3. Gomez has a NTC and a ridiculous 7.3 cap hit for 5 more years...worst than Briere(at 6.5 mil hit for 5 years)

San Jose - Marleau (?), Thornton (?)

Philadelphia - PLEASE LET IT BE RICHARDS (won't be though), maybe Gagne?

Tampa Bay - duh

Rangers - Drury? Gomez? (he would be better)

Who else?

thats probably the case. of those guys, Lecavalier is the only one i'd want. Of them all, he is the only one who singly makes your team better.

Are there more than 5 #1 centres in the NHL? I forget. But surely not more than 10. Half of them can't possibly be available, can they????

And guys like Briere, Gomez, and Jokinen had better not need any enticing. You take them for free if you're desperate enough, but you don't give up anything for them.

Marleau chokes in the playoffs,Briere and Gomez all Bob would be doing there is a favor to both the Flyers and Rangers so they could dump that crap to us(Briere and Gomez). Jokinen well the Flames want Bouwmeester signed so it might work but I still think they will wanna keep Oli since Cammelleri is going to leave.Lecavalier I just don't see that deal happening, ever well maybe in the last 2-3 years of Vinny's contract

I agree, i can't be Briere. It has to be someone who is a STAR forward, not some 2nd line scrub.

San Jose - Thornton/Marleau
Philly - Carter
Tampa - Vinny
Calgary - Jokinen
New York - Gomez (he's not the answer or big) can'e be

There must be some X factor out there we haven't thought of.

We just need a number one that won't hurt us with his contract.

Brad Richards doesn't have long left, how about him? They got him for spare parts, we can offer Dallas Plekanec and Niinnimaas soiled jockstrap.

Jokinen, Gomez, Briere and Drury I just don't want. Unless they're for Hamrlik.

Marleau is interesting, but should come cheap.

Lecavalier is a perfect fit for us, we just need Tampa to effing give him up already!!!

Which doesn't look like the case and like I said if the Flames are going to let Cammalleri walk then they gotta keep Oli cause with Conroy and Lnkow as their 1-2 centermans it's not very strong

Hoe the hell is Gomez a big no1 center and not Briere... he's a midget just like Briere and is less offensive and cost more...

If Gainey even considers these 2 players, I would be ****ing pissed.

Gomez, Briere and Drury have awfull awfull contracts, while Jokinen, for the same production (even better) has a great contract...

I wouldn't put him in the same category as the other 3...

Jokinen would be a good and quick fix... not the long term answer, but beside Vinny, there's no other players available this year (forget Kovalchuk).

...and the Sedin twins aren't the answer either...
