Anaheim-Nashville

To Nashville:
J.S. Giguere
Andrew Ebbett
2010 2nd rounder

To Anaheim:
Dan Ellis
Jason Arnott

May be a little crazy with the emergence of Peka Rinne, but I think it would be a fairly decent trade for both parties. And it would definitely solve the 2nd line center problem for the Ducks (if they decide not to dip into free agency).

Nashville gets a $6 million backup, smaller and less skilled at center and gives up a guy they just picked 11th overall less than a week ago.

Works for me.

Value-wise, it's probably closer than some people think, but come on... Nashville's offense gets even thinner. If they're trading from a position of strength (D), they should be trying to acquire another top flight forward... and yes, that may come down to parting with Suter or Hamhuis.

Also, they really have no need for Giguere with Rinne and Ellis in the fold.

EDIT: If you're going to switch up Ryan Ellis for the goaltender 'Ellis', at least make sure you get the first name right (hint: Dan).

You didn't notice the edit I'm assuming.

Anyway, as said above, the Preds don't need a highly paid goalie, they are just fine there. They need offensive forwards.

Why would nashville trade their top scorer for a backup they don't need and can't afford?

Horrible.

Last I checked, Nashville already has goaltenders coming out their ears in their farm system. The reason why Ellis is being traded is because they've already got Pickard, Smith, Deckanich, and some European kid who seems to be good at stealing jobs.

So there's really no need for JSG.

1. This is terrible valuewise, pretty much Giguere and Ellis is a wash even though Giggy is better he is making much much more than Ellis to be a backup. So Arnott for Ebbett and a 2nd?

2. Why would Nashville take on money and give up scoring for an upgrade at backup goaltender?

What if we just waited tomorrow to sign Koivu? End of story.
