It's all speculation of course, but that's the same length that the supposed Luongo extention has been reported to be.

The Sedins will be back in Vancouver. They apparently have received a offer that is comparable to what they proposed and they clearly said many times(including yesterday) that they want to stay in Vancouver. All Henrik said yesterday was that if they dont agree to a deal by july 1st then they will test free agency(not like they would have a choice if that hapend, once july 1st hits and your not signed your testing free agency).

They will either be officially signed today or have a deal agreed to in principal. The odds that a deal doesnt get signed is very very unlikely.

Its also possible that the Sedins will have a deal agreed to in principal and both parties will wait past july 1st to be able to tweek or restructure the deal so they can play with the roster for this year and next if need be.

I would go up to 6 years and as much as 6.5M$/yr for each.

More years or money would be absurd...they are 80 pts guys not 50 goal scorers, 110 pts players or 22 yrs old anymore

Good luck to the team that wraps 13 M in these two guys.

I would love to see them back in Vancouver, but if they want that much, good riddance I would rather rebuild the team then be stuck with a cap-crippled team, then with a 1st that only can be relied on when they have a 2nd line that can take defensive pressure off of them. (See: 07-08 season for examples of what happens then they don't have this support)

If the go FA, no way any team is going to pay for both of them.

If the Canucks sign the Sedins for 6mil each there are two options:

1. Sign a puck moving d-man like Jay-Bo for big money and have a shot at winning. If they don't get a true top pair d-man that can skate, log minutes, move the puck, QB the powerplay it doesn't matter if they have the Sedins they will no go anywhere in the playoffs. Signing a Jay-Bo would put the Canucks in a Rangers like cap situation with over 25mil invested in 4 players who have never shown the ability to win anything(Sedins, Luongo, Jay-Bo)

2. Don't get a true top pair d-man that can do those things and constantly lose early in the playoffs if they are lucky enough to make it.

Either way it's a total disaster. Hope they are gone unless they are back for around 5mil each and no more then 5 years.

Oh wow 80 points!!!

They are pretty much always in on the same goals, get huge first line minutes and most of the PP time.

My favorite is when one or both of them perform magic and disapear for weeks at a time.

You do realize that 80pts puts the Sedins in the top 25 for scoring these days, right?

Your funny, kind of like them being among if not the most consistent players in the league who never go in to serious slumps.

And since your always clearly trying to troll then ypu get to win a prize, getting on my ignore list.

Yeah I do. And spending 12mil on two 80 point guys wins you nothing.

They aren't superstars they aren't elite. They are good.

They have also had to be 100% healthy to put up those numbers. You really want to sign 2 guys to huge deals when you have no idea how one would play if the other got hurt? their entire game would change. They get their points on set plays and repetition.

They have experienced nothing but losing in their careers. 3 second round exits and a few missed playoffs. The idea that they can take a team to the finals is laughable. No way Henrik can compete with Getzlaf, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Thornton, Crosby, Richards, and so on. And if Henrik isn't going Daniel isn't scoring.

I hope they decide quick, because if they decide to leave after a long decision, there'll be no free agents left, and Gillis will be pretty screwed.

LOL dumbest thing I've ever heard.

A fluke injury can happen to any player. They have been lucky.

At some point in their next contract one of them will get hurt and it may very well cost that team a playoff spot.

5.5 mil each is a good deal for their production. I think some people here confuse a unique situation with being bent over. Certainly being a packaged deal changes things, but 1st line production does not come cheaply. If a team is in need of two first line forwards, 5.5 is fair price, beyond fair in Free Agent Frenzy.

Arguing they are worth this until 40 however is step towards lunacy.

Deal looks to be done, according to a possibly fake twitter account. Gillis will announce upon arrival back from Sweden.
