Mods-

Some people expressed an interest in an NFL Draft GDT so we don't kill the "Pittsburgh Sports, etc" thread.

Oh, and anything you guys want me to add to this, let me know.

Awesome, thanks for putting it together. Probably a good idea to keep it separate for the next few days. Although, we have already been killing that thread for the last month or so.

A "Go Niners" or "49ers All the Way" or "On the 7th day, God Created the 49ers" sign would fit very well, Doc.
Ah, and a logo as well, please.

BTW, don't know if was already posted in the Pittsburgh thread, but Big Ben was just suspended six games without payment.

Nice. I hope that this will subside the Big Ben trade talks. I am sick of hearing about it already.

There is nothing like drinking all day with your buddies and arguing over the merits of a 5th round draft pick....I love the draft

Take Iupati/Pouncey in the first and McCluster somewhere in the 2nd-3rd and I'm a happy camper.

While you can argue that Ben's incidents do not point to a pattern, they are just "wrong place, wrong time" stuff...Holmes has been consistently in trouble since his arrival here, not to mention his issues at Ohio State. To put it frankly, if Holmes isn't a talented football player, he would've been in jail for a while now. I wouldn't characterize it as a HUGE mistake to trade him...it hurts the team, but it saves them from the distractions that he continually caused. Holmes is a good reciever, but let's not go around as if he is the next coming of Jerry Rice...if Sweed gets his personal issues worked out (not something I'd bet the farm on, but the kid has too much talent), our WR corps will be just fine.

I don't expect the Steelers to trade Ben...if ESPN's reporting has truth to it, the only team that is realistic would be Oakland. I would assume that would be bringing atleast Oakland's pick at #8 overall and probably a 3rd or conditional pick next season. You don't get Sam Bradford at #8 and Bradford is the only guy I'd even consider replacing Ben with at this point. Clausen just reminds me of a Cutler/Losman type guy...maybe he turns out to be good, maybe not...but I don't think he is worth the gamble of dumping a proven star. I think you have to keep Ben, and possibly try and find a diamond in the rough in round 4 or 5 to develop for a few years.

Me to. I was going to break the news I don't think my body can handle another calzone so soon. I'm dying people. The Pens will have to close out on their own.

I'm on suicide watch for the next 24 hours.

If the Steelers trade Ben, especially for what the rumors I've been hearing are, I'm going to cry and the Steelers are going to be stuck in mediocrity for another decade.

Too bad the Steelers didn't totally tank last year to get Suh.
Oh, and what a great idea to put the NFL Draft on in primetime...against the NHL and NBA playoffs. So lame...

Wait, it's on at night? WTF...

It's not like this draft even has anyone going 1st overall that would merit putting it on during primetime, and by anyone of merit, I mean a Manning/Elway/etc.

I seriously doubt Ben will be traded.

My prediction is Steelers will pick Pouncey. It's not a sexy pick but safest pick in first round. He can play guard in his rookie year.

Personally, I prefer Iupati over Pouncey.

Realistically, he won us two SBs already. That's more than we could have expected his rookie season. I'm okay w/ either decision. If they get rid of him, then the Steelers organization has guts and I'll support that any day. That means they actually care about how their franchise looks and reflects our city. If they keep him, then we should be competitive and it gives Ben time to change his life around here and make it into a success story.

Who knows? I'm okay either way.

Big Ben is a lewd, perverted, pig of a man....however, I want him to be the QB of the steelers. I think this chick is an opportunist and had drunk sex with him willingly. He is NOT a criminal..a pig, yes..

Trading him would be yet another stupid decision the Steelers have made over the past few years..without Ben the Steelers will suffer the hell of medicority.

Amen!!! Hearing the words "trade" and "Ben" provokes both rage and panic for me...Steelers nation has been waiting for a QB of his caliber for since Bradshaw....

I'm with you on this, I don't know what I'll think about this team if Ben is traded. I think it would be a kneejerk, caving to the yinzer-mob here in town move.

I don't think Iupati is suppose to be around, but I'd take him and Haden (CB) before Pouncey (although I'd be glad if we take Pouncey). I think I'm going to have to set up the 2nd TV in the living room just incase I need flip out due to a dumb trade in the top 10.

I've been listening to Mike and Mike all morning and it's beeb 90% Ben trade talk except the draft... Also I thought it'd throw this out there and DO NOT take this a gospel, but I have a friend who works for Scouts Inc. who told me that he wouldn't be "suprised at all" if Ben was gone tonight to the Raiders. He also said he hasn't heard any other team interested and that we are lucky that the McNabb trade already went down or he'd already be in Washington (but I'm sure most people could've put taht together on their own).

There's a GDT for this NICE!

Alright, here's my big board for the Steelers (realistically)

(1) Joe Haden [it's obvious why]
(2) Earl Thomas [more of a FS prospsect, but he's a CB as well]
(3) Rolondo McClain [fits the mold for a Steelers LB. GREAT athlete, and tackles fairly well, and extremely poise. He does need to progress in his overall tackling ability and pursuit though. What better place to learn that then in Pittsburgh )
(4) Pouncey [IOL is a huge need. Start at RG this year, move to OC next year]
(5) Iupati [still needs some footwork help, more of a straight line blocker. hell of a blocker if he gets his hands on you]

Please lord, let Eric Berry fall to 10 so we can move up for him

If only Uncle Gary liked the foozball!!!!!

I hope the Giants take Mcclain. With the latest moves going on it all indicates that there is a very strong chance for him to be there at #15, and if it's true that he does not have crohns desease or whatever it is then that eliminates the only downside about him.

My fears though are that the Giants draft yet another defensive end and neglect their linebackers from anyone of real talent... again.

I would also hate to see Price drafted with #15 which is what some mocks are showing. I wouldve loved to see Earl Thomas but since the rolle signing I don't think they'll do it.

This is going to make things interesting/difficult with tonights game going on at the same time.

Suh is more of a 4-3 pass rushing NT than a 3-4 DE (or even NT!)

He could be a "Jay Ratliff" 3-4 NT, but that's pushing it to some extent. I think he would be GREAT in our scheme, especially with his athleticism and ability to drop back into coverage like with our Fire Blitz schemes

I think we end up with Pouncey at 18. My darkhorse pick? Dez Bryant
