Oh man! I hate leaving there from any event. I'll never forget, going to a playoff game in, 2008 against the Penguins. The same night, the Phillies were hosting a game. I missed the entire 1st period, due to finding parking. Parking meaning parking in the middle of, butt **** no where. AKA FDR park.

Nothing like seeing a bunch of moms and 14 YRS shopping as I watch a game.

Rutgers football playing at Yankee Stadium.

Rutgers will face Army in the second-ever college football game played at the new Yankee Stadium on Nov. 12, 2011. The two schools formally announced the agreement Wednesday during a press conference at Yankee Stadium.

"We're on a path," Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti said. "We're not where we want yet. But we're going to get there. It's very important that the visibility is there. I don't think you can have any better visibility in a collegiate event than there would be in this facility."

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Army's Michie Stadium in West Point, N.Y., so Rutgers is not giving up a home game. As the road team, Rutgers will not receive a substantial allotment of tickets, but they will gladly take the benefits of playing in the Bronx.

My last visit was to a Phantoms' game in December, the same day as Army-Navy football and a Sixers' game....amid snowfall. It was still a blast, however.

I don't think anyone will go there to shop if they're not going to a game, or at least not on game night.

I went to a Flyers preseason game and there was also one of the last Phillies game. On top of that there was a Temple football game at the Linc. I was also at the playoff clinching Flyers game this year and it was the 2nd or 3rd Phillies game and something at the Linc. Both of these were nightmares coming in and leaving.

If they were smart they would do what the Dover Speedway does during a NASCAR weekend. They share space with a mall, and shut the mall down during High volume events. Its not like the world will end. there is 4000 malls withing 100 miles of each other. Im sure the one in south philly being closed will make that big of a difference. you cant have mall traffic mixed in when the Eagles, Flyers, Phils, or a concert all have an event going on at once. Not a good idea. If they dont heed my warning this whiole thing is gonna lead to an epic fail.

I came to the latter, and it was smooth sailing. Platt Bridge is the way to go

If I were smart I would have left right after the Flyers were done. But of course I stayed and drank at the Pavilion and left during the traffic.

Nice! My girlfriend has season tickets (so in theory so do I).

I might be playing golf this weekend with a former RU football player, who's currently on the Jets practice squad.

We should ask Whalers fans- their arena was in a shopping mall.

Yea but their arena was half the size of the Wachovia Center.

So apparently the UFC match is at the Wachovia Center on August 8? Wonder how hard it is to get tickets...

Edit: Wow, cheapest ticket on Stub Hub is $189 for 1 ticket. Jeez.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if there were actually people who did. Regardless, I can understand where the city is coming from trying to get more revenue around there, and I will admit there were days I went from a Flyers game to a Phantoms game and got stuck in the parking lot waiting in between since I'd have to pay again with nowhere to go, but this whole project is ****ing stupid IMO. I would've much rather had them knock the Spectrum down, and build something along the same lines there. It's not like they don't have events going on to bring money in. It's just going to force that many more events into the Wach, and even more scheduling conflicts with the sports teams. With all the warehouses and wastes of land around that area, I don't see why they couldn't find the space 3 or 4 blocks down. But no, they have to build smack dab in the middle of the arenas, taking up parking spots, which there is already a lack of.

And as far as traffic, the worst I can ever recall which is saying a lot, is this past season during one of the first Phillies games. I normally park in the side Spectrum lot closest to the Linc, and of course both games were letting out at the same time, but the brilliant parking security at the Wach decided not to open the gates on my side of the lot. I sat in the same spot for literally 40 minutes. Of course, if they took out the million pointless stoplights every block around there it would help, but no way they'll ever do that.

FWIW. I like the idea. Might be nice to head down to a game a little early and get dinner, maybe the restaurants will be better/cheaper than arena food.
