Ottawa Trades Dany Heatley to....

....Ottawa

Ottawa Gets:
Dany Heatley

Ottawa Gives Up:
Dany Heatley.

I think it's an excellent move for the Sens. We get a two-time 50 goal scorer who's still in the prime of his career, at a great contract, locked up long-term. We don't need to worry about trying to sign the injury prone Gaborik, the playoff disappearing act named Hossa or the twin perimeter players of H/D Sedin.

Some big benefits:
1) We retain our $5m in cap space we currently have
2) We retain a player who has scored under 40 goals only twice in his career (and once, 39g)
3) We retain a player who has great chemistry with Jason Spezza
4) We retain a top 3 goal scorer since the lockout.

I love it. Best move of the off-season, I think. Dany Heatley for Dany Heatley is by far, the best value I've seen.

Perfect. I think that will make everyone happiest. Hopefully whatever issues he was having with Ottawa he won't have with Ottawa and he'll go on to have a productive and happy career.

The same thing that went through your head when you bothered to post an image, in a failed attempt to be funny.

People keep insisting, "The Sens will get no value for Heatley", and that "He has to be traded". No, he doesn't. He can play for the Sens or sit out (as is his choice), but the Sens don't have to trade him. They tried to get a fair deal, nobody wanted to do it, attempting to buy low, so the best trade the Sens can make is to keep him on the roster and play the season.

He's under contract. It's a pretty simple proposition.

Dany Heatley has seemingly driven this poor soul right out of his mind. Oh sure, he'll say it wasn't actually Heatley that did it but rather other people who post on HF, but we all know the root cause.

Awesome. Can we bring Ray Emery and Yashin back then? We might as well go for the full package of "gong show".

(Also: Yashin sat out and then came back. This isn't new territory for Sens fans. You might remember the Sens actually made the playoffs that year. Strange... we must have been a "gong show" by your logic... and yet we still finish in the top half of the league. Go figure).

This thread is at least providing some good laughs. I laughed at the FAIL picture too. I think a Heatley for Heatley trade sounds like a good proposition, provided you can dump some salary somewhere along the way.

Hilarious thread. Sorry your favorite player demanded a trade Pyke, I know how it feels. Building around Spezza isn't that bad though.

I will laugh at all the non-believers when Heatley gets traded for two top six forwards or more.
