it would be tough to botch a trade with Higgins. Trading a guy who is a 3rd liner, a good 3rd liner, but a 3rd liner no less, can't be a bad thing. That said if it means taking Gomez I'll be pissed.

Higgins had an off year, but I thought he was turning it around towards the end. I still believe he has 30 goal potential and is a solid defensive player and hard worker too. The return better be good. If it's Gomez or Drury (or Redden) I'll be very disappointed.

Unless it shows up on RDS or TSN soon, I'm not going to believe this.

I don't know. If it was Gomez, wouldn't the headline read "Gomez traded to Habs" instead of "Higgins traded to Rangers".

He's not a 3rd liner. 3rd liners don't score 20 goals in their rookie year, follow it up with another 20+ goals in 60 games, and they don't get 27 goals at any point.

What if it's Sean Avery ? That would be even worse. What is Avery's status ? UFA ? RFA ?

Dubinsky would be the best return, however, I doubt he's coming our way.
I fear Gomez is what we're getting back.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Why Bob why? He could have made this deal after trying for the Sedins first?
Now we've got a massive contract on our hands, for a player we don't really want.

yes they do, it happens all the time. Look at Jordan Staal.
