Callahan possibly a 30 goal scorer next season?

One of the biggest things I'm looking foward to seeing next season is seeing Ryan Callahan net 30 goals. After Torts was made coach Callahan went on fire and was by in my opinion the quickest and best adjusting player to Torterlla's offensive style of play.

The most important thing I noticed about Callahan was he was incredibly consistant offensively since that point and I truly believe that Callahan will be a pleasant surprise for a lot of us next year when he's given a full season under Torterlla. What do you guys think?

20-25 is probably more realistic, but who knows? Prucha scored 30 and none of us saw that coming.

30 isnt unrealistic but not the most likely amount. i say he gets 25ish. still a great return from a player with the all around game he has.

If Heatley plays his natural LW instead of RW, I could see it, but teams play him off-wing, where he scors. So I think aa 3nd line Callahan goes 25-20-45, where a Callahan w/Gaborik COULD go 30-30 or so... in the long-run, IMO, he's a 25-25 guy.

he picked it up when torts came in but he was a pretty solid and consistent player throughout the season.

I think Callahan is a player who's ceiling is impossible to judge. I wouldn't rule out him becoming a consistent 30 goal threat. He improved so much over the course of last season -- in the last quarter of the season, you could see that he was a guy who expected to score when he shot the puck.

I hope he'll develop into a bona-fide sniper in the next couple of seasons.

Sadly, Cally lacks that elite or even pseudo-elite set of offensive skills, otherwise with his drive and work ethic he would be a perennial 40 goal scorer. As is, he should net 20-30 goals every year for the next decade, if only due to the number of chances he creates for himself.

Imagine how sick Cally would be if he had Zherdev's talent... Where's Dr. Moreau when you need him...

He has a good shot. Also scores garbage goals. My guess is he'll only get better. It depends on who Cally plays with. For now, 20-25 goals remains realistic.

I'd like to see Dubinsky improve in that department. He's got great speed and a good shot. Just needs to use it more. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to crack 20 next year.

Zherdev's natural skill/talent + Cally's Work ethic= 40-45 goal scorer no doubt.

30 goals won't shock me, 35 to 40 would.

I could see 30 but it'll be tough. The whole team will have to be playing really well.

He was our most consistent player last season. 25 goals would be great, 30 goals I would be ecstatic.

I think his defensive play gets overlooked a lot. He is a great penalty killer and just plays a smart defensive game. He has the potential to turn into an excellent two way player.

Zherdev's talent + Cally's work ethic = Zach Parise

I've been saying it for a while now. He will score 30 next year.

9 goals in the final 21 games after Torts took over. That's a pace of 35 goals for the season.

There's more to scoring goals than having great stick handling skills. Hard work, a good shot and knowing where to be on the ice are a huge part of it, and Callahan has all that. Graves didn't score 52 because he stickhandled through/around people.

25 is more realistic. Considering nobody scored 30 goals last year I would not garantee 30 goal seasons for anybody.

30 isn`t out of the question, but I`m looking closer to the 20 goal mark. He did have a great stretch run with Torts but it'll be interesting to see how that translates to a full season.

i would love to see him put up 30 goals but I would be more than happy with him putting up 25.... I am not so worried about if Cally can score 25-30 as i am that dubi has to put up 20 he has been my favorite player since he started with us and I would love to see him break the 20 so lets go Cally and Dubi

Hate to say this about a young player, but does anyone else get the feeling that Callahan is awfully close to his ceiling?

I think Dubinsky is the one that can really grow.

If this is what Callahan is then the Rangers should be thrilled. I have no problem if he is a career 20-25 goal scorer while bringing it shift after shift.

I am dubious (see what I did there!) when it comes to projecting Dubinsky turning into a real offensive player.

Those are my sentiments...I'm very happy if Callahan turns out to be a consistent 20-25 goals a year 3rd liner, who brings grit and effort every night. And, I believe this team is best served if that's what Callahan turns out to be. I'm very comfortable with how the RW is currently constructed - legit 1st liner (Gaborik), legit 2nd liner (Zherdev) and legit 3rd liner (Callahan). Those three should combine to score 85-90 goals this year.

As for Dubinsky, I feel and have felt the same way for a long time. He showed he can handle playing with skilled players. To quote Brooks from yesterday -

Quote:
Dubinsky was the best Rangers center with Jagr two years ago, and he was the best Rangers center with Nikolai Zherdev last year, so he's not unaccustomed to playing with talent on his right flank.
His junior coach, his two NHL coaches, his GM and the former asst GM have all said the kid has the ability to become a #1 center in this league. I believe there is still a great deal of development in his game to come, and I believe he has the mentality to become a #1 center. He's cocky, arrogant and brash, and has no problem with assuming responsibility. He has the confidence of his coach, so I think we could see a breakout this coming year if he becomes Gaborik's center.

I think its a bit too soon to judge Callahan's ceiling.

If you told me this time last year he'd be our most consistent player and would score more than 20 goals, I wouldn't of believed you.

I think he and Dubinsky have a ton of untapped potential. I think Dubinsky's ceiling is higher though too.
