Who has been better... Allison or Kopitar?

I didn't watch much of the Kings during the LAPD era, but I have seen some highlights, and Allison looks like an excellent center. Of course I know the character/injury/slow skating issues with him, but overall, who has been better - Allison in his stay with the Kings or Kopitar so far?

Allison:

73 games 19-55-74
28 games 6-22-24

Kopitar:

72 games 19-41-61
82 games: 32-45-77
82 games: 27-39-66

Forgot the poll...

Allison was far more dominant offensively, and when on the ice, had more of the competitive edge that DL loves....but Kopitar has played better all around....

LAPD was SICK!!!
if Kopi could get full time wingers of that caliber like allison had then he would be putting up at least 25 points more than he is now. lets hope murray keeps fro and williams on his line for majority of the season

Allison had great ability to control the puck along the boards and everywhere else. He was an excellent passer as well. But, There is no one on the Kings's team now who approachs Ziggy Palffy's game breaker/sniper ability, nor Deader's grit and tenacity to go to the tough areas and score.

The line of Allison, Deader and Palffy put it all together and had a symbiotic chemistry, the likes of which had not been seen in LA since Taylor, Dionne and Simmer. Injuries killed what is arguably the second best line in Kings History.

Hard to compare. When Allison came to LA he had many years under his belt. I think Kopitar will be a 90 point a year scorer in 3 years for the rest of his career. And will drop to the 50s in his last 3 years.

I don't quite get the point of these kind of questions, but statistics aside, Kopitar has not yet developed the ability to control the game the way Allison did.

Awesome line. Allison was a headcase though, and still is apparently. Has he even played anywhere in the last few years, or is he still waiting for some retarded team to pay him the millions he feels he deserves?

Unfair to compare a player in his prime to one who has 3 years of experience. In fairness to Kopitar he also has not exactly had linemates that match up to Paalfy or Deadmarsh either.

Really? As I recall, that line combo barely played any games together due to injuries.

Wasn't it something like 50-60 games they played together and put up like 200 something points between them during that short span? It was something INSANE is all I remember.

Kopitar hasn't reached Allisons level yet, but he should end up being the much better player.

.
They did play together and racked up points at an amazing rate, hence the comparison to the Triple Crown Line. They even had a name, the LAPD line.

If your talking pure skill, Kopitar wins it easily...However, Kopitar has not developed the overall game Allison had in the prime of his career

in a day when scoring was down, Allison singlehandedly created several scoring chances a game. If Allison stayed healthy and had healthy linemates with him in LA, he would have been top 5 center in the league for years....but the Kings and their 650 man games lost seasons.....

Wasn't Tippett the one that put that line together after Murray's car accident?

yeah....apparently AM believed allison wasnt a good enough skater to be paired up with Palffy, and there was always the issue of spreading the scoring by making 2 scoring lines out of 4 top-6 fw's

If I remember right
The Kings were struggling to score right from the get go.

Smolinski started the season with Allison & Glenn Murray.

Palffy and Deadmarsh were the second line with Johnson.

It was either the crash or the Murray trade, but the combination of Murry leaving and Smolinski being useless, Palffy and Deadmarsh were "promoted" to the #1 line.

And of course in true Kings fashion, Johnson skated a practice on a line with Deadmash and they somehow came together and Johnson's knew hit Deadmarsh in the head and that was that.

Though a productive line it really wasn't together that long.

Murray was traded for Allison.
