IF LA stikes out on free agency, do they go after Heatley?

What you should ask yourself is....If Heatley turned down a trade to Edmonton then why would he accept a trade to the Kings???

He's got us on his short list...he can escape to hockey oblivian in LA. IF LA can't get anyone else he might be worth it as Ottawa may have to bend over just to be rid of him.

DL and Hexy have already said they have MAJOR concerns about this guy's character. They can accept the first trade request because of what happened in Atlanta with the car accident, etc. The second trade request pretty much makes him Persona Non Gratta in the LA locker room as far as management is concerned, and they said as much several times.

Some rumors just wont die even after they've been killed several times over!

I know all about what has been said and the issues....just saying if we can't get anything else done, do we walk away from the two time 50 goal scorer? Knowing DL's character issues I highly doubt Heatley ever comes to LA but it will be telling if DL feels compelled to pull the trigger. Not advocating it but LA still has alot of sway in this situation as it really does seem like Heatley would love to be forgotten in LA.

He probably has all of them on his radar. I've seen Beauchemin play the most out of that crop. All five are good players, but you just don't want to over pay for any of them.

My guess is Greg De Vries if he hasn't already retired. Sign him to a 1 yr deal and have him fill in until one of the kids is able to step in.

On wing I keep seeing the name in my head, Mike Knuble. He's old but still affective and if it's a 2 yr deal I can see DL and Hex wanting him.

Knuble wouldn't be a shock.....I have a feeling we are going to end up with more of a Knuble than a Havlat actually. Hope I'm wrong.

You can't go wrong with Beauchemin, Knuble or Samuelson after the big guys are off the board. DeVries? How much do you pay a 36 year old dman who managed to put up 5 points in his walk year? 38 shots on goal in 71 games? No thanks, his numbers point to a steep decline since he signed in Nashville.

From everything I read Knuble will stay on the east coast, either Philly or the Rangers, would be shocked to see him land in LA. His style is perfect for Murray's system though and he's thought of as a coach out on the ice his game is so sound.

Meaning that kind of player and not Knuble himself per say.

I'm at work without a phone or internet access until about 1 o'clock. My luck the Kings will sign everyone and I'll miss it all.

Couple other Vet Dman that could be on DL's radar are;

Skoula
Schneider
Kurtis Foster
Andrew Alberts
And old pals Sydor and Boucher

Not that any scream playoff bound, just some older guys that would sign short term deals.

I just see that many nice names in the UFA market. If LA is going to make a splash it'll be via trade. I think today will be slower than most of us believe.
