If so, you've got a very steady Defenseman on your hands.

7 years, at $3.75/year. As per NHL Live and also Bob McKenzie.

A little long, but a great fit for you guys.

I don't think anyone plans for him to play the full 7 years, plus he will get to retire in Tampa.

This is amazing news for us...lets wait and see exactly how the contract is structured before we pass judgment on it.

If its front loaded with some sort of a team option in a few years this would be fine. A long contract though...

$3.75 Million hit is nice... They were saying on TSN that he won't stay 7 years and just leave with a few years on the table.

I would like to congradulate Tampa Managment for once again showing they are useless and have learned nothing from what they did last year and over the past decade. You continously sign players to huge contracts and for too long and end up trading them.

For Example Richards signed for way too much and had to trade, Boyle, rumors of trying to trade Vinny because you can not afford it.

why would you sign this guy to a 7 year deal???

Honestly most likely the worst run organisation in hockey

I saw 7 year 22 mil and thought "Isn't he like 32, 33 already?"

I'm glad we got him, though.

Good signing for you guys. My was initial reaction was "7 years, holy ****" as I think he only has 3-4 years left max. But if he retires, than 3.75 mill per year for 3-4 years is a great deal for you guys.

Fairly front loaded. Per Darren Dreger: Ohlund will get 22.5 of the 24.5 in the next 5 years.

I didn't think of that. Wow, this is actually a brilliant move. I'm surprised we actually pulled this off.

He's not 35 so if he retires the contract isn't guaranteed. Length doesn't matter too much, hopefully its front loaded.

Edit. Must not feed troll, especially uneducated troll
