why would you sign this guy to a 7 year deal???

Honestly most likely the worst run organisation in hockey
Montreal fan by any chance?

Just a hunch.

Also, a lot of Canuck fans feel Ohlund really helped Edler in his development, so this should be a great move to help Hedman.

Good signing by you guys. Hedman had Timander as his mentor in Modo and Öhlund will be the right guy to do that role in the NHL.

Congrats on getting a perfect mentor for Hedman, helping him become as dependable and steady as he ever was. When Ohlund begins to decline, Hedman will be sure to cover his mistakes in turn hopefully.

Will be checking back later to see how the project's working out.

Great move. And Ohlund won't just be a mentor for Hedman, he's also going to be a mentor for Ranger and Meszaros as well. What's not to like about that? All of those young guys are really going to benefit from Ohlund. Smart, smart, smart move by Tampa Bay.

Of course the contract is front loaded. As TSN said, he won't stay the whole 7 years.

Great signing by Tampa.

It's basically a five year deal. He should be able to play that long. Plays similar to Sergei Gonchar.

TSN reporting 22.5 of the 24.5 mill come in the first 5 years. So there's no way he plays those last 2 years.

So, who gets 2? Krajicek or Ohlund? Fork it over Krajicek.

Lawton is turning out to be a frickin genius. Feaster would have never thought of the setup of this deal.

congrats, this is a good signing for your team. Ohlund is a reliable d-man who can put up some points and play the PP as well. He's lost some speed last year but is always positionally sound, is a good leader and will be a great mentor for Hedman.

Even if this was our only signing, i'd be incredibly happy. Vinny and Marty for Stamkos, and now Ohlund for.... well, everyone. Imagine if he can clean up the play of Mez and Ranger...

Smaby with 5, Krajic 6 if he signs... 7 is up in the air.

I'd hope that Lashoff gets one of the spots. As for the other two, Krajicek's a pretty safe bet and I could see us giving lots of other players (Smaby, Wishart, Quick, Lundin) a shot at the final spot in camp.

First of all great signing!!

We have our mentor for Hedman.

Thats not a bad top four at all. As for the other guys they will have to battle it out in camp.

I really think the final 3 are going to be Smaby, Lashoff, Krajicek in that order.
