Quote:
The Lightning has called about defenseman Matt Walker, formerly of the Blackhawks, Walker's agent Gerry Johannson said.

"Yeah, they're definitely interested," Johannson said. "I've spoken to them several times."

From what I remember with the Blues he's big and mean with zero offensive skill.

I don't agree with this signing. We had plenty of competition heading into camp at defense as it already was. I would much rather spend this money towards a quality backup or even a scoring winger.

I hope he breaks Mihalik down like a drill sergeant does a new recruit and makes him into a player. Please god.

I like the signing. Signings like this one prevent us from signing Malik's and Melichars when injuries hit. I'd slate him at #5 on the defense.

Plus, this guy plays with his heart on his sleeve, and blocks shots better than a lot of defenseman. Can't go wrong with this imo.

Yup. Now we have DEFENSIVE DEPTH in our organization for the first time in... ever? I'm betting we'll be trading off one of our extra d-men.

Remember the guy who played the playoff game with the finger literally broken?

Yup, that's him.

Yeah, no.

Sorry, I just don't buy it unless it was a "hey we'll give you 5 mil if you want to stay in the sun".

To describe Walker briefly: All heart, no talent.

Agreed. I dont want a roster full of players like this, but we need a few players with heart. The only 2 people I saw give that all season were Stammer and Marty.

Nails wish they were as tough as him. I have more offensive skill but if someone is messing with Smith when Walker is on the ice they better watch out.

4 years is a little long but singings like this prevent Malik like signings and also from us raiding Norfolk which is very important with Riku starting full time there.

Only 12 more defense men left to sign.......

I'm content with the defense now. Got a #1-2 and a physical, shut down guy. Now if they can grab a good backup goalie and a top 6 winger not named Vrbata.

Makes you wonder where the lunacy of last year came from. They're behaving sanely now. Maybe Bettman show become of therapist instead of an NHL Commissioner?

I think Lawton having more control is the reason. For as much bashing he gets he is doing a good job.
