Montador was awful for Boston. Good riddance.

Happy he's gone. He was brutal for us while here. Let's hope Ference is next!

I wonder when we trade Tallinder then...

Montador played great in Anaheim, not so much in Boston.

I wouldn't have minded Montador staying as our 7th Dman since he can play forward as well. He never had a chance to get comfortable in Boston in my opinion.

I did chuckle a bit as this is probably the only thing Buffalo will do. Interesting front office they have over there.

A collective +17 as a 3rd liner last year with 21 points to boot. Decent signing.

... uh, what's the issue?

Since Spacek probably isn't returning, this is a good deal for Buffalo.

He's nothing more than a 6th/7th defenseman. I'm sorry.

He fumbles the puck more often than not and is atrocious in his own zone. His stats from Anaheim are very deceptive.

Shane Hnidy was better than Montador for Boston.

Considering that's all he'll need to be in Buffalo doesn't that make this a good deal?

He's cheap, physical, and adds versatility and defensive depth. That's an ideal Sabres signing. He's making 2M less than Spacek per year, and with Jaro likely on the way out, that gives the Sabres some wiggle room as far as trades go. If they move somebody like Tallinder, they can afford to actually take on some salary.

Montador's a solid signing, but it's the potential impact on the surrounding environment that make this a great deal for Buffalo.

I like this signing a lot. I said last night in another thread they should sign Hal Gill but this makes a bit more sense.

If you were to ask me if I'd rather have Montador at 1.5M per or Scuderi at the 2.5M per that he's probably goign to get, I'd go with Montador every time so I think its a pretty good signing for Buffalo.

Man when Regier said he wasn't going after the big-name free agents he wasn't kidding. Montador will be nothing more than a depth defenseman for Buffalo.
