Seems high for a third-line checking center...

Howson is a smooth operator. Does an interview on the radio and mentions that he just started looking at centers. Hangs up the phone and gets Pahlsson for 3 years. Boom roasted.

Seems to be too much, but an upgrade over Malhotra.

Robert will be happy. He's a Stanley Cup Winner. No loser pedigree with this guy.

Manny who?

And if we were gonna pay a 3rd line center 2.65 mil (which is a bit much), better him then Malhotra.

we overpay very little maybe 500k not a big deal and a great signing..we finally have a shut-down center for the 3rd line rather than a tweener.

Like the player. Not crazy about the deal. $2.65 is awful high.

Seems like that would've been more than reasonable for Manny. Wonder if management had more issues with Manny than simply a contract disagreement?

Don't really get this one. Hopefully it doesn't have a NTC.

Maybe they feel they need to add a real third line center rather than a utility man. Manny was good for what he was, a utility guy. He wasn't going to shut down anybodies top forwards or even come close to it.

If he did, he would have been laughed out of the NHL.

If were talking about 3rd line centers, Pahlsson is better then Manny at the defensive aspects of it. Pahlsson is a better penalty killer, and is every bit as good as Manny at faceoffs. Add to the fact that this guys been around the block at the playoffs, and I think i'd rather have him then Malhotra.

If our guys are going to stay healthy, I'd rather have Pahlsson then Manny. Manny brings a little more to the table offensively and therefore is going to do better playing up, but let's be honest, was it really enough to justify keeping him around?

I definitely like Sami. Not going to get much pop out of him offensively (not that Manny gave us much anyway ... )

The better question is, who will play on the Pahlsson line?

Sami! Welcome to Columbus. We picked up one of the players people thought we might, so I'll take that.

OT, is Mono a disease you can only get once? If so, we've got two players that we don't have to worry about coming down with it ever again.

If it weren't for the fact that Sami has been injury prone of late, I'd love this move.

Paying $500k more on a three year term for a guy who could be sidelined significant amounts of time is a gamble, plain and simple. If the old 2007 version of Pahlsson plays for us, it'll be great. If the 2008-09 version of him plays for us, we'll be counting down the days until his free agency.

When healthy, he's the best checking line center in the league.

Big fan of this! Maybe a smidge high cost-wise, but overall terms that I can live with.
