yah no grit, because Tanguay, Lang, Dandenault, Kovalev were the definition of grit and toughness.

All of the forwards do bring that toughness in the corners and on the boards which we lacked.

I would have give Sedin 7 M They were never availableand not trade for Gomez and no sign Cammaleri
so basically you would have ended up with nothing (because no Gomez), or something more expensive (like Havlat for 7,5 mil... on the DL)

Just read that somewhere. I remembered Kamensky and Audette, but not the others.

Anyway, hopefully it goes better this time.

I am less happy when I see RIS and their updated roster and see Hamrlik-Gorges as our 2nd pairing but especially Gill-O'Byrne as our 3rd.

i just wanna throw something out there because you know it will be brought up and it will piss some fans off.

No french canadian players signed and we let go of Tanguay, Bouillon, Dandy...leaving, Laraque, latendresse and Lapierre the only french canadians on the team.

DOnt be surprised by the amount of criticism and bashing this team will receive in the next little while from the french media and french fans.

Well. The entire media pressure on the three smurfs (Gomez, Gionta, and Cammalleri) will be incredibly intense if they do not produce. They're getting very well compensated and there is no chance of re-shaping this core easily in the future.

Really Dissapointed...

I wanted one of Havlat/Gaborik/Hossa and one of Ohlund/Beauchemin, but Gainey couldn't find anything better than Gionta, Spacek and Gill... Cammalleri, I can live with that... But the rest...

Havlat just signed with the Wild 6 years/30 millions. I can't believe Gainey didn't give this money to Havlat instead of Brian "Smurf" Gionta... Sad...

Are you actually saying that during one of the busiest signing day in Habs history?

just like it would have been incredibly intense had the Canadiens acquired Lecavalier, St. Louis and Simon Gagné from HF board that would want elite production because the whinny french people finally got what they wanted, well now the don't care for the Quebec thing should be happy that there's basically none of those guys on the team and it better work because Gainey's plan is finally there and it's his team that we'll see

Replacing non-gritty players with other non-gritty players only smaller doesn't fix our lack of grit.

Gionta 5'7" 175 lbs
Cammellari 5'9" 185 lbs
Gomez 5'11" 200 lbs
Spacek 5'11" 204 lbs

...ok, big boy Hal Gill at 6'7" 250 lbs... but he couldn't catch a one-legged dog that ran off with his wallet.

One more reason to like these moves.

No doubts about that. The pressure is well deserved for these guys and Gainey especially.

I have to say that I apologize to Shabutie 'cause I definately didn't catch all the Cammalleri's press conference and thought that Gomez was not that much a factor while I just listened to it in his entirety and his tone and what he said really shows that Gomez was indeed a big factor.

Oh, I don't know, maybe the 5M a year for 5 years that Gionta is getting had something to do with him coming here?

Gainey certainly gave him a very generous contract.

I am not too excited .... I kinda agree with TSN that Habs are moving side way. But I'll also give the new players and coach benefit of the doubts and until the new year .... all star game at the latest before starting to bash Gainey. It appears BG has put in all on the table ...

Hahaha. Quite true, although that Gill bit is hilarious.
