Another left wing bites the dust...

Larose resigns with Canes per nhlupdate (Jordan Leopold with Panthers too).

I like Reapers idea.

If we end up starting next season

+ Scuderi
+ Biron
+ Kessel
- Gauthier
- Calder
- Armstrong
- Boyle
- Erbserg
- whatever else to give up for Kessel

I don't think anyone would complain.

I think Sturm is an infinitely more likely option however.

Though my top choice is Gagne as well.

Gagne is definitely ideal. He's under contract through the 2010/2011 season with a 5.25 cap hit. Not bad at all if he keeps putting up 70+ points. Maybe he can hit that 40 goal mark again like he did previously (06-07 I think?).

Started a Gagne to LA thread in the Flyers forum. Got shot down pretty quickly, Flyers fans seem to think Briere will move before Gagne or Hartnell. I also believe that Gagne has a NTC as well.

I support the Kings...Dean just happens to be the person running it. That is no different than loving America but disagreeing with the President (for example) and his policies. Do you have to agree with everything the President says or does in order to be considered a "True American"? Conversely do we have to agree with everything that Dean says or does in order to be considered "True Kings fans"? I love this team....but I think Dean's policies are leading this team to a recession.

Hey, lets be easy on Gauthier..

He actually started to play pretty well down the stretch of the season. At least he doesn't take any *****.

We need more guys that will do what he did to Gorges. We have no one that's even close right now. But we will have Teubert doing that some day. Oh and playing excellent hockey otherwise as well

This is where the Biron rumors make sense. Sign Biron as the 1a/backup with Quick. Ship Ersberg to Boston for a forward they can't afford. Is it Sturm, or do you add something to nab Kessel? Sturm for Ersberg? Johnson and Ersberg for Kessel and a defenseman like Ference?
Not a bad theory Reaper....but just to put a little road bump in front of your theory....both Wheeler and Rask are still on their Entry Level Deals.....which means the Bruins can exceed the cap by their bonus amounts....Which is about $4 million.

I believe it's about 4.465 million. If they happen to meet those bonus amounts, however unlikely that may be, then that 4.465 gets applied to NEXT years cap (no choice for the team) and the cap is expected to drop. If Rask, Wheeler and Lucic all maxed out their bonuses and the cap drops to even $52-54 million Boston's cap would actually be $47.5-49.5 million. And the Bruins need to sign both Wheeler and Lucic then. I doubt they want to have a ****storm on their hands when someone offer sheets Lucic, the prototypical Bruins player.

I still like Mikael Samuellson to complete the top 6.

I like Gauthier too, another guy that got a bad rap from time to time, but Scuderi is far-and-away the better hockey player in his own zone. Much more complete game. Better on the PK, better on 5v5, less turnover on first pass, better decision making all around. It's a definite upgrade. It also lets OD play less minutes in a shutdown role, and do more mentoring.

I like Reaper's thinking, but I really think they want Tukka up in BOS. Developments over. Time to sit on the bench until Tim Thomas' magic carpet ride is over, and then take over and be the dominant force he's expected to be. I'm a T.R. fanboy from the way back.

Anyone that has a problem with the team adding Tanquay at this point needs to check that **** at the door.

I want Moller, Bernier, Loktinov, Voinov, and maybe Hickey et al leading the charge in Manchester and returning that team to the AHL playoffs. Yes, I said Oscar could use a year in Manch. He'd probably skip his cheery little heart out all the way there too, grinning little sucker.

Fro - Kopi - JDub
Tanquay - Stoll - Brown
xxx - Zus - Simmonds

daddy like.

It is....but the two players I listed have about $4 million in bonus clauses in their contracts. And the chances of either of them (let alone both of them) achieving most of their bonuses is remote. If they did it would probably mean the Bruins had won the Cup....And if that is the case I am sure they would not be as hurt about letting some guys go next season.

I agree.....I am sure that Boston would at least consider all "reasonable" offers at this point.

That's an interesting comparison, Samuelson vs Sturm.

Probably good for around the same amount of points. Neither is soft, but Sturm is grittier I think, while Samuelson is more talented and has a better shot.

I think I like Samuelson better as a player, but think Sturm would fit better on this team. Then again Samuelson costs cash and Sturm costs assets.

So in conclusion... I can't make up my mind!

I'd take Sturm over Samuelsson twelve days a week, personally.

Sturm was drafted by Lombardi and has played in California before, I wouldn't see an issue with the NTC.

Samuelsson isn't an option now that he's signed with Vancouver.

The fact that Boston stands a good chance of winning the cup has nothing at all to do with it?

It boils down to accept a trade to a place you'd want to go or be put on waivers and end up anywhere.

They could do that...but do you really think that Boston would just give him away?

Or send that message to other potential Free Agents out there?

I'd like Sturm but my guess is all we end up with will be Fedetenko.
