while this is true and the future of our D looks very bright you cant totally rely that 3 rookies will come up and be able to handle our defense this years its just not realistic. if 1-2 could step in a do a great job that would be amazing (and even that is a bit far fetched).. i say you bring Mara back.. especially if rozi is dealt..

If Rozsival is dealt then yea for sure for 2 million DONE but that's a big if for Rozsival being moved

You still play Gilroy, Sauer, Potter as the 5,6,7 though with Sanguinetti the main call up

DelZotto, Kundratek and McDonough will still be in the minors.

I don't understand how people are so quick to pencil Gilroy in. The fact of the matter is, he is just as unproven as MDZ and less proven than even a guy like Sangs who has played well in the AHL. Don't let his season as a 24 year old in the NCAA mislead you. He will be in the mix, but I would expect that guys like Potter and Sauer would certainly have an edge on him.

I would rather have Mara then Redden.
I think everyone would.

The fact of the matter is Mara tok to many stupid penalties trying to stick up for his teammates and didnt have nearly the offensive output needed of him, plus hes easily replaceable.

He did have an awesome beard, though.

Mara's holding penalties along the boards always especially frustrated me. You would think he would've realized he wasn't allowed to do that at some point.

i like mara and would take him back at 2-2.5 mil a year and i feel the same way about morris

but honestly i'd rather let potter, sauer, sanguinetti and gilroy....even del zotto (though i don't think he has much of a chance to make it this year) battle it for those last two spots.

I guess I think he will get in their because of age and they signed him to a pretty large sum just like Wheeler was in Boston

Is it so bad to think that Gilroy, Sauer and Potter will all make the team and battle for time?

Thing is Redden is here for sure, Staal and Girardi Torts loves.................Rozsival actually is a good defensman but I think most people would like to see them save a few million to ensure all the RFA's are back and their is some wiggle room

take this for what its worth

Defensemen

1. Ryan McDonagh 8.0B
2. Bobby Sanguinetti 7.5C
3. Michael Del Zotto 7.5C
4. Matt Gilroy 7.0C
5. Michael Sauer 7.0C
6. Tomas Kundratek 7.0C

Defensemen

7. Pavel Valentenko 6.0B
8. Corey Potter 6.5C
9. Mitch Gaulton 6.5D
10. Tysen Dowzak 6.0D
11. Ivan Baranka 6.5F

Mara and the rangers need to part.

We have 2 older d men in Rosi and Redden.

We ave 2 Young d men in Staal and Girardi.

The other 2 spots can be battled for by the many d prospects we have in our system. (Gilroy, Sang, Sauer, Potter, D.Z, etc...)

I say let him walk.
