I remember that Staal and Cally were both captains in the OHL, and especially Staal was said to be a great leader, so I dont know.

Gaby and Staal/Cally/Dubi. I'd love to see Staal wearing a letter, but I wouldnt be dissapointed if Torts gave it to some other kid.

I've been an advocate of Gaborik for years now but I don't recall him being an alternate captain in Minne was he? I may be completely off basis but I took a quick peek at pics and didnt' see him with a letter on his jersey.

Tough choice though, I'd probably go against the grain and say Rosi should get an A, and I'd give the other to a kid that stands out during training camp.....Staal? Dubi? Cali? I can make a point for any of those three.

I know I'll be crucified for suggesting Rosi but seriously he may be the new whipping boy but he really hasn't done anything wrong, accepting a ridiculous offer from Sather isn't his fault. Let's not forget how horrible Poti, Ulanov and R. Pilon were eh?

I've never beena big fan of just handing a big name FA signee an A.

Do somthing in NY first & earn it.

That being Said I hope Cally or Staal get's one.

My Dark Horse is Avery being the Vet that gets the other one.

Note: Since joining the NHL in 2000, the Wild have never named a permanent captain. Instead, the team captaincy is rotated on a monthly basis among several of its players each season, with some players serving multiple times. Gabby held the captaincy March to April + the playoffs in 2008.

Hate to say it, but Redden or Rozsival will probably get one.

Well that officially sounds retarded.

he was an Original wild and they never bothered to give it to him permanantly?

One goes to Gabby, for sure. The second A is up in the air.

The other one needs to go to a young guy. Staal, Dubinsky or Callahan.

My vote goes to Staal, cause he should be a long term member and leader on the team. We've gone a long way towards making this team younger and embracing that theme. I say we keep pushing in that direction, and embrace our youth by giving one of them a leadership role with the club.

Most of all, I don't want to see Redden with the A. It would suck, but it might happen.

I think it will be Gabby and Rosival

the outside possibility is Cally, but im doubtful

Their not gonna give it to Dubi and Staal who, although promising, are still developing and are not signed (and probablly wont be) past next season

My guess is that Rozsival probablly won't finish out his contract here and that opens a spot for Dubinsky/Staal/Cally in the 2010 or 2011 seaon

edit: after reading the rest of the thread, i just felt the need to say that you guys are out of your face if you think Avery wheres a letter...now or at any point in his career

You really think they won't hold on Dubi and Staal? I think you're mistaken. They'll at least hold onto one, if not both.

We've seen a new coach and a very active roster change.

Why is Drury a guaranteed C? He was given the chance, did he earn it? I have a feeling we'll see a C being passed on.

Even though Torts referred to Drury as the captain of the team this offseason?

Weird

Glad to see more people giving a letter to Staal. As I've said before, I think his quiet confidence is a great asset, and if all goes well, he'll be a fixture of our blueline for a decade, or more.
