I don't hate the idea in principle though, even if the Isles have little reason to really consider it (they're pretty set at center).
Snow just seems the most likely GM to take advantage of.

I'd honestly drop Jurcina from it...and just send Nylander and the 2nd for Sutton. That's a cap savings of $1.875 for this coming season (Hell...they could make the trade and then buy out Sutton at a 1.167 clip for this season and next) and then the additional year of Nylanders contract being gone.

It's all about getting rid of the Nylander contract and SPC in general.

No argument there. My only point is, if Jurcina's a "value" addition from Snow's perspective, we shouldn't be giving up a 2nd as well (Sutton's contract is just as bad as Nylander's for the player he is). If he's not a value addition then there's no point including him; he's not a player we'll have to send out as a salary dump anywhere since we could just walk away.

I don't know that the Isles do it, but if they do I'm game.

Take out Nylander, and the Islanders might listen.

He's thermonuclear. Acceptance is the first step to recovery.

He's totally going to dominate training camp.

To bad Yonkman re-signed with Nashville.

Finley. He's even ornery in interviews. Hide your trash cans.

I've heard the Caps already have a Yonkman #40 sweater for Finley to wear in camp with the idea that just seeing that will send Nylander to LTIR

Yeah. 48 hours after the hearing is when it has to be decided. Don't know if that's "by noon" or "by time of hearing end" or what as far as hour, but it should be soon.

I'm somewhat hoping for $1.5 or higher...just to see what happens.

Anything less should lead to little drama and more boredom.

Watch him just get HOSED. I would not want to go to arbitration against GMGM.

He's gotten soft over the years. When was his last victory over a player? I can't even remember at this point. Witt maybe?

Eh, his agent sounded happy with the way it went. I doubt he'd be that way if GMGM had really unloaded.

I don't think GMGM really needed to get personal. Unlike Morrisonn last year, Jurcina didn't really play a prominent role. The only thing Jurcina has going for him are the hits and blocked shots he amassed but I don't think that alone is going to net him a huge raise. It'll be enough to warrant electing arbitration but I think it'll come in just a bit below the walkaway threshold.

Wasn't that the one that team threw out after one year and gave Witter a better contract?

Mo wasn't happy with the way his went, and was incredibly distraught I remember reading. I know the club wasn't happy either, so I guess that's a nobody wins type, which is really what the final result should be.

I made note the other day that Walsh "tweeted" that the hearing ended about 1:30. Not that it means much in terms of when we will or will not hear anything; the decision has to go to the team and the player's sides by the 48 hour deadline not us, but given the manner in which news goes public these days perhaps Walsh will twitter about it.

walsha: For everyone asking, no word yet on the Jurcina arbitration result. It should be coming down soon.

I'm going with $1.25 million.

Sigh.
