HFBoards TOP 40 ranking: Goaltenders #16

Now that the season and playoffs are over, I thought we'd do an "HFBoards ranking" for each position.

So basically, who (of the following) is the best goalie in the NHL? ie. which goalie would you want on your team for next year only? (independent of their respective salary)

Vote away.

Ranking so far

1. Luongo
2. Brodeur
3. Lundqvist
4. Backstrom
5. Nabokov
6. Thomas
7. Ward
8. Fleury
9. Vokoun
10. Miller

11. Kiprusoff
12. S.Mason
13. Turco
14. Giguere
15. DiPietro

I think Khabibulin suddenly becomes a better goaltender now that he plays for a Canadian team.

Is Dipietro ever going to be a starter in the league again?

Price over Bryzgalov, Huet, Lethonen, Leclaire?

What has Carey done in the NHL? 920% sv in 41 games? There is still some guys who did that and more for a longer time. Other than that, Price has a 905% season (and was awful in the 2nd part) and was horrible in 2 short playoffs. Price should go around 20-25. I'm even more impressed by Hiller and Rinne for now. In fact, forget about his name, and you don't put him ahead of Mike Smith. They are about equal for now.

Fleury at #8 and Lehtonen still available at #16...? God, Kari is underrated.

Are you saying Lehtonen deserves that #8 spot more than Fleury? What could possibly be your reasoning behind that?

I think Quick is very underrated as well. Next season, I expect the Kings and Quick to bloom.

What kind of stupid question is that?

A semi-serious one. Apparently I need a "" after every such comment around here.

Although you have to admit, it doesn't look good for Dipietro's health situation that the Islanders felt the need to bring in Roloson.
