Is Marc Savard a Possibility?

After hearing Torts talk about needing a Left Handed Center. And the possible acquisition of Koivu who is a playmaking center. And hearing some of you guys bring up Kessel and Bergeron of the Bruins. Why not Savard instead? He's supposedly available.

Marc Savard would probably be the perfect Center for Gaborik since Gabby would most likely thrive with a speedy playmaker like Savard.

Not sure what it would take to get him, but obviously we'd be sending them back one of Redden or Rozsival with a young player or two and maybe a draft pick. But imo it would be worth it.

Anyone think Savard would fit in here? Is he a Tortorella type of player?

Personally i think Savard and Gaborik would be dynamic together. And i would love to have a Marc back playing for the Rangers again.

Positive that Boston does NOT WANT any salary back in any deals so the Rangers would need to ante up some prospects, picks

Anisimov, Sangs, 1st for Savard

And even then Boston is laughing because Savard is pretty much (at least imo) one of the best centers in the league.

That's why this is a pipe dream. We need to move salary to fit Savard and his 5 mill cap hit. Someone like Rozy HAS to go the other way to make it happen plus a young player or 2 and probably a 1st rounder too...

He's by far one of the best playmaking centers in Hockey.

I'd much rather trade something of value for Savard than for Brad Richards.

With Savard you are guaranteed to get about 80+ points out of him. And centering Gaborik he might be good for 100+.

He's terrific at getting the best out of his linemates.

I agree. And he's a terrific value at 5M.

I would love Savard. Any chance we could get it done with Rozi, D prospect (Sauer etc.), and a pick...?

The Rangers and Bruins aren't a match due to limited cap space for both teams. The Bruins can't take back salary, while the Rangers would have to include salary in any deal. The only option would be a three-way deal.

Playmaker, yes, but since when has Savard been considered speedy?

Savard has some speed, he's not one of the fastest but he's not slow

Why would the Bruins want to get rid of their leading scorer? And why would they want Rozsival or Redden?

Just a thought...if you send Rozsival to Boston for Savard, Rozy and Savard are making the same amount of money so that just leaves Boston in the same position. Send them Sanguinetti, Potter (they are lacking on the blue line in terms of prospects) and a 1st round pick and I would pull the trigger....however Chiarelli is a very smart GM and won't let Savard go for something like that and won't let Sather take advantage of him like he did on Gainey. But I guess its a thought.

Exactly. We can't just look at another team's top center and decide "ooooo I want him."

And he's available? I haven't heard that. If they are having cap issues, I'm sure they would be more inclined to trade Kessel than Savard, who has already proven to be a top 5 center in this league.

We'd have to move Rosival regardless though.

If this is gonna happen (probably won't), it'd have to be a 3 way deal.

I love Savard. The problem is, I'm sure the Bruins love him too.

The Savard ship has sailed, a long time ago.

No, thank you. No more bad contracts.

5 mil per year for the next two seasons for Savard is a bad contract?

I wish... My fav non-Ranger player. Can't see one single reason Boston would let him go tho...

Edit: fav non-Ranger player aside from Colton ofc... damn I'm still pissed over that....

Edit 2: Savard with his contract must have one of the highest trade values in the league. Would take ****loads of prospects + high round picks to get him...

Why would the Bruins want to help out the Rangers by:

1) Giving them a top line center
2) Taking a bad contract

?????????

Taking a quick look, it's only one more year, so that helps your cause more. It really is a good contract actually...

But my point is this:

Unless we move Rozsival or Redden ANY contract is a bad contract.

We still have Dubisnky, Callahan, Zherdev, and Korpikoski to sign.

Besides that, there's no way Boston moves Savard.

We HAVE TO get Dubinsky, Callahan, Zherdev, and Korpikoski locked up. Why the heck is it taking so long?

What would it take to get him?

The price would be very steep, no?

I'm just going off this small part on his Yahoo Profile about the Bruins possibly moving him for cap space.

You don't even realize how steep it'd be.
