According to the Hawks site, he signed a one year deal.

Interesting and not surprising if true, but I just checked Russo's blog (he noted he's away) and twitter and didn't see the news updated there as of now and nothing on the Wild boards (the ones on the Wild site yet) either.

Given the situation with Harding that wouldn't be a shock, particularly if Wild mgmt thought he might get an offer sheet or holdout given his situation.

The base is $1,042,173; however starting with 07-08 it increased by the % that player salaries rose. If my math is right the value for this summer is $1,570,259 I believe.

If from what i read is correct, then Hudler should be compared to other RFA's who had arbitration rights
. Does anyone know some names off the top of their head? I know Grabovski was (which will REALY help Hudler). Hudler had less ice time (3min less apporx) and put up more goals and points, but on a much, much, MUCH better team (the leafs suck, and im a leaf fan).
Any player who was a Group 2 RFA when their contract term began, doesn't matter whether they had arbitration rights or not. Players signed prior to the new CBA are excluded, as well as arbitration awards from 2005-2006.

There are some other lesser qualifications, but for the most part any RFA contract back to 2005-2006 [including offer sheets] and any arbitration award [that the team didn't walk away from] back to 2006-2007.

The Rangers filed to take Lundqvist to salary arbitration two years ago to avoid an offer sheet being tendered. The Rangers signed him a 1 year deal and then long term deal after January 1,2008.

Minnesota is worried about an offer sheet with Harding.

Alright, thanks.

I don't remember hearing of a case ever and since there's a chance that Zherdev could become one I figured it was time to find out the answer.

it has happened before... JP Dumont comes to mind, when the Sabres walked away from his arbitration, making him a UFA, and then signed with the Preds.

I'm sure there are other cases of this as well.

I believe David Tanabe in 2006 is the only other player to have that happen to since the new CBA went into effect.

Several players got walk aways in earlier years though, including Cory Stillman and Bryan Berard.
