anyone who wants a shot at Ilya better hope that Atlanta sucks it up big time this year (not too far fetched a thought) and that Antropov doesn't get along or gel with ilya.

I expected Nash to stay there. Great deal for them.

As I said elsewhere, with Nash re-signing in Columbus, scratch one more pipedream.

But I thought the Kings were going to sign him?

Good for them. Good player and the face of their franchise.

I'm looking for all the next year folk?
I honestly believe this year was the perfect opportunity to strike and we missed our window for a top forward.
Not to mention our D signing. You could have added Monty, Zanon, or Huskins at almost half the price. I'm a big supporter of DL during drafts but he completely baffles me during trades or UFA signings.

The reports were that Ilya was pushing hard for Atlanta and Antropov to come to an agreement. My guess is, if he brought this guy in, he isnt going to bail on him after one season.

Even without that, he isnt going anywhere anyways.

Maybe they will end up cash strapped and be forced to give us Jason Chimera.

Championship!

Interesting, I didn't know that Ilya pushed for Antropov. That certainly helps the Thrashers by going after who Ilya wanted, but I don't think liking Antropov will be the deciding factor in Ilya's decision IF the Thrashers are a bad team again.

Like I said, I don't rule out him staying with the Thrashers, and I think it foolhardy to wait to acquire Kovalchuk, but I do think there is a very real chance he leaves the Thrashers.

Your sarcasm is duly noted, but I really would love Chimera on our 3rd line!

It is possible....but when you see the contracts handed out to free agents this year do you really think Dean would offer what it would take to get Kovalchuk (think 10 year/$100 million contract)?

No, which is why I said it is foolhardy to wait for him, because Dean probably wouldn't outbid by enough to get him here.

Though if there is a player with "no question marks" as Dean has become accustomed to saying, it is Kovalchuk. Who knows, if he was willing to throw the bank at Hossa, I imagine he would be willing to get in to a bidding war for Kovie.

Like I said, the bidding war would set new precedents. 10 years, 100 million is something I could easily see him getting.

If Kovie does get to UFA, I do believe DL will make an effort, but you are right that it probably wouldn't be enough, because unless we make the playoffs AND do a little damage, Kovie isn't going to consider the Kings no matter what the offer.

Do you have any offensive D-man that can play on the PP available? If so, something could probably be worked out.

Come to think of it.....I may have read it on Hockeybuzz so its probably complete BS.

However, Nash is staying CBUS.....just because you are on a crap team doesnt mean you wont stay. Right now they are probably offering Kovi the world by brining in players and new management.
