Wonder how he'll get along with JJ. "Remember me?"

Nobody on the trade forum has mentioned this, nor has anyone on this one.

Ryan Smyth had a No-Trade Clause. He waived it to come here, obviously, but he didn't make a fuss out of it. There was no drama like the Heatley situation, or Gaborik leaving Minnesota. These are the kinds of players we want on this hockey club. I am absolutely elated.

We didn't just need a finesse goalscorer, we needed more. We needed grit, we needed a front of the net presence. We needed character and players who hold others as well as themselves accountable. We needed a veteran. Holy cow.

Best part of the deal is ridding yourself of the Preissing contract.

Smyth $6.25MM - Preissing $2.75MM = Smyth at $3.5MM...steal...

All I have to say about this deal is this.

If you knew how hard the guys in the WR worked to make this happen. To get Smyth wanting to come to LA. To get Lacroix to take Preissing back...

Let's just say, that whole staff earned their ****ing money this week.

Now shut the **** up, haters. In the words of Les Grossman.

"oh, you're a great American, this country owes you a tremendous debt...

....NOW SHUT THE **** UP AND LET ME DO MY JOB"

Great deal. However.. I still feel that we're in need for a pure goal scorer, and if we can add Kovalev for a year or two thats a perfect combination.

Smyth-Kopitar-Kovalev.

I'm getting ahead of myself.. Without Kovalev and just Smyth.. We're a legit playoff contender next year.

I've been pretty frustrated lately. But Colorado absolutely got hosed on this deal so i'm pretty happy with it. Contract isn't the greatest but for three years who cares!

The best part about this deal - we NEVER have to face off against Ryan Smythe for 3 years!!!!!!

Nice move by LA.

Smyth's solid as a veteran and a 60+ pt player on the top line. Exactly what LA needs.

This. I think that was the deal breaker for Dean.

Congrats King fans, this team looks not only legit next season, but down right dangerous. Arguably the best part of this move (and acquiring Scuderi) is taking the pressure off Brown a little bit. Smyth will provide a veteran presence in the room and on the ice, allowing Brown to focus more on his game, not unlike what happened last season when Guerin came to the Pens and helped Sid out. I'll definitely be keeping tabs on your team this year, good luck.

This guy's moniker is "Captain Canada". He's loved everywhere he goes. He's going to help this team so much it's not even funny.

Again, you're only going to pay $3.5, $3.5, and $4.5 for him.

This way you can lock up Johnson as well and there is a better chance that one of Hickey, Voinov, or Drewiske will take that # 6 spot.

Also, remember, Quincey is coming off major back surgery this offseason. There was talk that he may not have even been ready for opening night.

This is a great deal and it's the kind of deal that stays the course of what DL has been touting and helps the team's chemistry and character. Build a winner through adding winners.

Possible but I like a gritty 2nd line of Smyth Stoll Brown. I believe Stoll's career season was when he centered Stoll in EDM.

Frolov- Kopitar- Williams
Smyth-Stoll-Brown

wahoo!!!

Something to get excited about!!!

I dont think you can get more of a "Lombardi" (God I hate that term) type player than Smyth. Can't wait to see his ass in front of the net during our PP while Doughty or JJ or Stoll shell the goalie, as kopi works the half wall and Fro controls the boards.

Excellent work Dean. Now go sign JJ and Frolov.
