That could be what he is expecting through the entire year due to injuries and whatnot, not all at once.
Well unless, Stempniak, Mayers show up this year they may be the ones sitting while rookies get the playing time. Neither one did anything to guarantee full time employment this year.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.

Agree'd. Stemps needs a strong camp I believe to make this team. But I think Burke wants all his players to be looking over their shoulders at training camp.

Except, like Grabovski last year, I can see him give more rope to players who are part of the future.
IMO, neither Stempniak nor Mayers are part of the team's future.
Rookies may take turns with veterans for playing time.
And Colin Stuart is boy wonder? The guy couldn't even play a full season with the atlanta thrashers last year.... I think Stuart is more likely marlies bound more then some of the rookies.
uh, when do I mention Stuart. I think you are responding to some other poster. I'm just saying what management always stated Hanson was more of a project so by no means is he someone to pencil in the Leafs opening day roster.
Most players need time to adjust to a bigger frame when adding 10-20 pounds of muscle. Even 10 pounds could take upwards of a year to add to his frame depending on his genetic makeup.
Hopefully Bozak is spending the summer working on bulking his frame for the preseason. During the season it's much more difficult to add muscle vs the summer months without a hockey schedule.
Correct, but during the summer months, many hockey players can stack on the pounds...
Unless he's already in tank shape, I couldn't see him ever taking a year to add 10 pounds.

Exelby will not be an extra. Burke and Nonis tried to get him at the deadline last year and were unsuccessful until now. He wasnt just something Atlanta wanted to get off the books.
Kaberle - Komisarek
Schenn - Beauchemin
White - Oreskovic
Exelby Stralman - First D callup
Toskala Gustavsson
There's 5-6 with good insulation of veterans to not throw the rookies to the wolves. I really want Oreskovic on our bottom pairing, Wilson said last year he played very well and was definitely in our top 6 but with all the d signed we are going to need to move some guys or waive some. He seems like a Burke like player and would rather him than Finger or Exelby to get some youth with similar skills.
I think White comes back to forword, or MVR gets traded.
You're not going to have two right handed defencemen on the top pairing.. And Schenn can't play the left side. If you saw the games last season Schenn was lost when he was moved to the left.. He soon went back to the right side after he played pretty bad hockey on the left.
You can't just throw names into a hat and set pairings. They have to be thought through.

he played there for more then a short time... and he had some very very good games on his off side...
i believe the malkin hit was him moving to his left.. i don't think he will agree that schenn was lost..LOL
but seriously... kaberle & others (MVR/finger/frogen/white?) will not be here next year...
I see Komi + Beau as our top pairing (Combo ~= KomBeau)
then White - Schenn
and wrapped up by XLBY - Finger
with stralman putting on pressure/ riding 7th
means MVR, Frogen, and the rest are delt or in the minors...
MVR is a good all around d-man... if he can get past his injuries... and Frogen can add team tougness... not that we need that anymore.

Sorry but you're wrong. Schenn was terrible on the left side when he started there. Wilson quickly put him back on the right when Schenn was embarrassing himself for a little while there. Anyone who follows the team well could clearly see that.

Komi is a right side D-man too. You can't have him on the left. He was awful when Montreal out him there for a few games. When he was with Markov he was on the right as Markov is a left D.
You need Beauch-Komi and Schenn on the right for the other pairing.
Does this seem like the right line combo's?
IMO, we hurt players, but dont score.. we lose alot of games 1-0, 2-1...
Bottom Feeder.
We got Beachemin now so, edit*
Tlusty plays RW. Someone's been playing too much NHL 09! :p :p :p
Niklas Hagman - Matt Stajan - Jason Blake
Alexei Ponikarovsky - Mikhail Grabovski - Nikolai Kulemin
Jiri Tlusty - Tyler Bozak - Lee Stempniak
Colton Orr - John Mitchell - Jamal Mayers
Colin Stuart
Tomas Kaberle - Luke Schenn
Francois Beauchemin - Mike Komisarek
Garnet Exelby - Ian White Mike Van Ryn
Jeff Finger
Vesa Toskala
Jonas Gustavsson
Bolded players I expect to be moved before the start of the season.
