Kyle Quincey Appreciation Thread

He was on the only powerplay that worked, and was our most scoringest deffenseman in his short stay here.

Yes, Kyle, you are better than Lebda, Lilja, and Chelios.

This thread is the equivalent of everyone suddenly becoming a fan of Michael Jackson when he died.

Have you not been to any of the other boards? Whenever they trade away a player, they usually make an appreciation thread for him when he leaves. And if anyone deserves to be appreciated, it's KQ. But he was no more than a 5th defenseman, and I don't think Colorado will like that once they find out.

I've seen that, but I'm not that big a fan of it. We should appreciate the players while they're here. And I was making a joke anyway. A farewell and due thanks are in order though. So thanks for the time KQ.

I appreciate Kyle Quincey for being free of charge upon delivery, playing well enough to net us Smyth, and helping to get rid of Preissing in the process. Good job KQ!

Best of luck going from the end of a rebuild to one that is about to begin.

That's why you never do that stuff until they sign long-term contracts.

Good luck, Kyle Quincey. Pretty good player he will be. I guess I'll have the change the name of my fantasy baseball team on Yahoo

The Kings got you for nothing. I'm pretty sure most of us expected nothing. You gave us a pretty good couple of months before letting your play take a nose dive (injury or not). You were the main piece that got us Ryan Smyth.

Thanks KQ!

Thank you Kyle for helping us out. Wish we could of kept you longer, but I'm a huge fan of Smyth and his presence is more important at this time.

I hope COL trades you to a better team

Kyle, you're a class act. Good luck to you in Colorado. We'll miss your ability to 'Walk the Blueline'. Really, you have a bright future ahead of you no matter where you go.

...and no, this has nothing to do with your good friend Patrick O'Sullivan being traded to EDM.

...and yes, some people here would actually think that.

Amazing how a 23 yr old waiver wire pickup comes in puts up 38 points and is looked at as a #5 by some.

Quincey ran out of gas the last 1/3 of the season but before that he was our best defenseman. I wish him luck but we do have depth to replace.

How was he in our top-4?

Doughty and Greene were obviously above him

JMFJ was a much more consistent physical factor

Drewiske and OD were at different times of the season more reliable than KQ

As I said in another thread, I think that Frolov made that "second" powerplay unit click, and Quincey benefited from it a lot

Quincey had a great shot, would've been cool to keep him around. Was nice to see us get an awesome player off the waiver wire.

RIP.

I liked Quincey in a Kings uniform.....but he was worth more to us dead than alive (in a matter of speaking) so thanks for the memories Kyle.

Decent-good passer. Mobile but not a very good skater. Reasonable strength. Positioning isn't great, his defense is very streaky, but he is good at getting shots through to the net. You can see the things he learned in Detroit. He is young and has some pretty good upside. You'll like him. We all (mostly) did.

He's kind of a "good overall" type defensman. Pretty good passer, can move the puck up the ice. Decent skater with mobility. Good positioning most of the time, uses his stick OK defensively. He's not going to be throwing anyone around, but he's also not going to get out muscled badly in the corners. His shot isn't the hardest, but it's accurate and he has a knack for actually getting on net through legs. He's not going to excel in any one category, but does well enough at all of them.

I think you guys are going to like him. Remember, he's only 23 and last year was his first full season. He's definitely got some room to grow. The only real risk, IMO is his back. If he can bounce back from that surgery well, I think he will make a good 2nd pairing guy and will be an asset to your powerplay.

Maybe we didn't watch the same games, but Quincey never gets his shots through. Or at least hardly ever does.

I disagree with this assesment. He was awful positionally, he only redeemed himself defensively with his inconsistent physicality.

I can't remember how many goals were scored because Quincey was not at the right place at the right time. The Improperly Positioned Quincey was only slightly better than the Classic Gauthier Turnover, although both were miles behind the OD Pylon
