I bet Lombardi add's another defenseman

"Lombardi, who signed defenseman Rob Scuderi as a free agent Thursday, said he might seek one more veteran defenseman for depth."

Hickey had only a handful of AHL games, Teubert played in the ECHL and Voinov is still very young....Drewiske is too much like Scuderi...

Kings lost toughness in Quincey and Gauthier...

I really think Lombardi add's another D through UFA....

Here is my list:

Greg de Vries
Paul Mara
Francis Bouillon
Dennis Seidenberg
Andrew Alberts
Ole-Kristian Tollefsen
Marc-Andre Bergeron

don't know where did you see toughness......... Quincey was a mobile defenseman who had a decent shot and a good first pass out of the zone.
His bodyplay wa not really that good.

and who to cancel for a new defender ???
O Donnell is signed for mentor someone not because he is a great defender.

That means we will have a young gun to play with him.
the first 2 lines are set after skillsets.
Johnson - Greene
Doughty - Scuderi that means 1 offense, 1 defense defender.
That leaves O'Donnel to mentor....... an UFA ??????????
i can see more he mentors Drewiske and that Hickey gets a shot.

I really don't see a need for another defenseman

Really?

I think we lack a puck mover if Voynov or Hickey aren't there.

Puck movers - Doughty, Johnson.

Defensive dmen - OD, Greene, Scuderi

But out of your list, if you are going for straight toughness its got to be Seidenberg or Tollefson.

I also think Drewiske has more offensive potential than people initially surmise.

Mara, Seidenberg, and Bergeron can all play on the 2nd PP unit.

I don't care. They can do whatever they want with the prospects. It is their hides if they all turn out to be flops. After yesterday's trade, Dean can do whatever he wants outside of trading our core away I am satisfied with this offseason. Added our winger, got our veteran defenseman, and we drafted really well. On-ward to training camp.

I am still hoping for a little added depth on the wings, but mainly that JJ gets signed, like NOW.

He was one of only seven players on the entire Kings roster to have over 100 hits last year.

How quickly you seem to forget that he was the best defender on the Kings for a good long stretch until he ran out of gas towards the end of the season. There were a lot of games where people here were bemoaning the fact that O'Donnell, at times, seemed to be the only person showing up to play any defense at all -- especially on the penalty kill.

We need a shot from the point. I assume Jack will be getting some PP time now because we don't really have any other option.

I'd actually leave that last spot open to competition and go after a guy like Moen to complete the third line and not force one of the "skill" guys (Moller/Purcell) to play in that role. A kid might win that last spot on D in camp or one could be called up during the season. One guy who hasn't been mentioned much for the spot is Alec Martinez. I really don't know much about the guy and his potential other than he is an offensive defenseman and the Kings are high on him but I just have this feeling that he's going to be good(don't ask why lol). He probably has as good a chance to make the squad as Hickey/Voynov/Teubert. Can you guys give me some info on the guy and his chances?

Justin Williams has the possibility of playing the point on the PP.
He definitely has the capability. So he could be paired with a Doughty or a JJ, and Stoll with the other.
So, you have that to consider.

All that is contingent on what happens with Jack.

i think its very plain to all what DL is doing here with the team, and why guys like Lecavelier and heatley didnt fit....their last names didnt start with the letter "S"!!!

Scuderi, Smyth, Schenn....this could only mean Joe Sakic is next!!!

or maybe a veteran Dman like Skrastins or Schneider....

I would think if anything we'd be going for a veteran power play quarterback (like Zubov, Schneider, or Sydor). Point trigger men would be Johnson and Stoll, but outside of Doughty we don't have anyone to run the point. Plus getting a veteran PPQB would help the development of Doughty, Johnson, Hickey, and Voynov (and the rest of the kids on D).

Karlis signed in Dallas and Dean is not interesting in adding a guy just playing out the last year or so in comfort. There's a reason Dean went after OD and not Schneider last year.

If MAB wasn't such a liability and I trusted him for 10 minutes a night (hopefully 4-5 of those on the PP) I'd suggest signing him. He wasn't THAT bad last year, but the guy is as one dimensional as they come. Shot and vision are still real good though.

Mara would be a good fit to replace what we just traded.

Well over 100 hits, tough, and I'm sure we're all familiar with his ability on the PP. Plays both ways well, but not spectacular. Just wonder how much money he'd fetch.

I think it's gotta also be a guy that is on a 2way deal, or can be waived/moved if Hickey lights it up, which is a total and absolute possibility.

People need to start thinking that Hickey has a very real shot to make the team this year.

If we sign anyone long term, it endangers resigning JMFJ or Frolov.

We can only sign anyone to a 1 year contract.

Who would be willing to do this?
