Needless to say that the #1 in Hamilton needs to be ready to step up in the bigs if needed. Don't believe Desjardins is there yet.
Yeah, Sabourin definitely would have been a nice depth signing. Or what about Marc Denis again for a 1 year 2-way contract? Some nights he was absolutely awful last season though.

Desjadins has potential, I just don't think he's ready for a starting role in the AHL yet. Same for Mayer, a year in Cincy would probably be beneficial to him.

Denis ain't coming back, he doesn't want to play in AHL.

No, I highly doubt it. Going to the AHL and Hamilton was his road back to the NHL.

I'm sure they will find someone to be the starter and Mayer can be the back up in Cincy.

The problem is what team in the NHL would take him with guys like Biron still out there, I would guess he could have a hard time finding work in the NHL. The Euro leagues seem like a better bet.

There are still some quality AHL goalies available to be signed for Hamilton.

I would be interested in the following:

1. Nolan Schaefer (MIN)
2. J.S. Aubin (PHI)
3.Tobias Stephan (DAL, more of a longshot as he may go play back home in hhis native Switzerland).
4. David LeNeveau (ANH)
5. Curtis Sanford (VAN, does he really want to play in the "A" again especially after spending a good chunk of time in the NHL last season).
6. Mike McKenna (TB)

Eric Neilson was Crosby's protector in Rimouski ... He was invited to the Habs training camp two years ago, no?

Forget it, it was in 2006

Has there been any word on who Boucher will bring in as his assistant coaches?

Rumor was Martin Raymond from McGill University and he would bring back Sergio Momesso.

Makes sense, as he hinted that his two guys (and he did mention that there would be two not like under Lever and Wilson) would be a little under the radar and not mainstream names. He is not looking for friends, but guys who bring something different he does not bring. I am quite excited about what he can bring to the table next season.

On the goalie front, once D'Agostino, Stewart and Plekanec sign, that is 47 contracts. One more for a veteran NHL proven goalie is so prudent, especially with two young guys in Montreal, and two very young and unproven guys in Hamilton/Cincy in Desjardins/Mayer. Who wants either of those guys up long term in Montreal next season...NOT me.

Gainey still gets two pro contracts to play with in case something emerges over the regular season. Sounds very workable to me.

We signed Curtis Sanford to a 1 year, 2-way deal. Looks like he'll be the starter in Hamilton.

The Dogs will be strong this year.

Sanford
Desjardins

is a solid tandem.

Nice, Sanford should be a good goalie to have around for the Dogs.

The lines for the Bulldogs could look like what ? I don't follow them enough to know who's still there and who's not.

Thanks for the answer

So many question marks...Guys like Pacioretty, S Kostitsyn, could be with either/OR.

Absolutely. We had to address it and we just did. Can't wait to see how Mayer will look like in Cincy.

Two former Dogs have signed in Europe : Andrew Archer (Italy) and T.J Kemp (Germany)

I guess that we won't have to give the conditionnal 7th in the Kemp trade.

We will miss Archer for the fact that he got his face smashed by Chara.

They both were centers, but White has and very likely will play on the wing. We have too many centers in Hamilton...

Maxwell
Desharnais
Johansson
Pyatt
White
Fortier

Actually it was BGL who broke Archer's orbital bone in a pre-season game against Pittsburgh. You're thinking of Raitus Ivanans who got destroyed by Chara in a game vs Ottawa in Ivanans' short stint with the Habs.

Yeah... The same BGL who is supposed not to attack anyone, especially guys who are not in his weight category...

Ivanans didn't get destroyed at all - Chara took a cheap shot at him though when the refs were splitting up the fight.
