Cheap Backup

I was reading a news report that Tampa was looking to a)dump cap space and b) get a new backup.

With that in mind, what would Tampa be willing to part with for Alex Auld, one of the best backups you can get?
Would something like Prospal for Auld+ work? I feel like it could help both teams.

We're not dumping salary. We do need a backup, though.

Vrbata for Auld straight would work better.

Prospal for Auld+ might be doable depending on what the + was. I don't see much I'd expect the Sens would want to part with additionally that the Lightning would also need. Auld+Draft Pick might get it done, but not sure I see where the Lightning would spend some of those savings to get another wing for Lecavalier.

If Ottawa is going with Leclaire and Elliot though, moving Auld for Vrbata, or even for other prospect/pick type parts might make a good bit of sense. What other needs do the Sens have?

We'll be moving defensemen before forwards in our backup hunt, we can't afford to move top six guys unless someone like Downie or Ashton come to camp and set the world on fire.

I was almost positive they wanted to shed salary...?

Would Auld, 3rd, and Hennessy work?

Auld is a no. I'd much rather have Ellis, isn't Ellis the guy that was the sole reason the Preds were in the playoffs a season or so ago against Detroit?

Negatory. They don't have a dire need to shed salary, but they're also not in any rush to take a ton on.

We have a logjam at the blueline and will be looking to move (most likely) one of Krajicek, Lundin, Mihalik, or Lashoff. I'm sure they might try to package a pick or picks (later) for some kind of forward prospect with the goaltender, someone who is a bit of a reach/project that another team feels is "running out of time". We can't move someone like Prospal because it just creates another hole.

I want a backup I can imagine passing out and drowning in a puddle after a night of drinking peach schnapps.

Grahame is my vote.
