Kyle Wellwood could find himself out of a job if Cody Hodgson comes in and cracks the line-up. Kyle was near 60% on face-off wins I believe and was quite solid in the playoffs.

Radek Bonk is still out there. Can probably snag him for less than a million bucks, top three faceoff guy in the league the last two seasons, good PKer, will chip in 10-15 goals and give some leadership as well.

Also, his goals always seem to come at CLUTCH times.

Bonk is the best third line face off man in the league. He could probably be signed for 1M and sign him for two years at that. He scores clutch goals as barry said and is a great team guy

The Flyers have four excellent top six centers and two good bottom six guys in Powe and Ross. Not every team absolutely must have an elite faceoff man.

His shoulder is still a bit of a question mark, and the Pens narrowed it down to Adams or Zigomanis staying in town. When Adams signed for next to nothing (by NHL standards), that just about ended Zigomanis' tenure in Pittsburgh.

When Rupp signed, that was the final nail in the coffin.

Not to disrespect Bonk, but there's no clear-cut winner. Malhotra and Bonk are just about neck-and-neck on faceoffs, and Malhotra's pretty good at surprisingly timely goals as well (although he's not as clutch). If he wasn't convinced that that made him a top-6 center, he'd still be a Blue Jacket.

Just advising caution on calling anyone the "best in the league".

Is there any chance Malhotra goes back to Columbus? He seems like a natural fit there.

He either wants too much $$$ or too many years then Shero is willing to give him. If he just does not want him, then Shero needs to be KO'd. But Shero is too smart for the biggest weakness in this team to let him go because he wants someone a few hundread thousand cheaper.

Betts is not good on faceoffs. He is below %50. Would be perfect for 4th line but Flyers have Powe.

How much did he make last season? What was his faceoffs %?

He made 1.4M last season, and would probably make less this season. Was 59.9% on faceoffs, 3rd in the league. Also chipped in 25 points.

With the Jackets signing Sammy Pahlsson, the answer is not likely. Malhotra is very versatile and a guy I'd love to keep, but he played quite a bit on the first line last year, now wants to get paid like a top 6'er. In Columbus he'd be back on the 4th line unless there is injury. No way the Jackets pay the kind of money he's looking for.

they dot need a face specialist. they need richards, carter, and the rest to improve, considering richards had a 2 torn labrums since december i am sure that didnt help him. all it takes is extra work and practice. i mean they have one of the best in clarke, who should be on th eice teaching them the finer points. as the season progresses if that is a cocnern you address i then. not now imo.

After Pahlsson's signing? Probably not, unfortunately.

Agreed.

I don't know as he's looking to get paid like a top-sixer, and you can't fault a guy for asking, but it's not likely to happen. That said, as much as I'd love for him to stay in Columbus, the signing of Pahlsson would make him not only not a top-sixer but also a fourth-liner, which I think pride if nothing else would keep him from accepting. Some team will likely offer him close to what he's seeking for a third line role.

Why can't both of those be true? Bring a guy in who can get the job done now while Carter and Richards work on that part of their game.

As a Flyer fan, my number one choice would actually be Marcel Goc. He's young, solid defensively, and good on faceoffs. I also think Malhotra and even Bonk would be good options. I really think Holmgren is looking for a scoring winger and thinking of putting Laperriere at center given the comments he has made regarding Lappy's faceoff "prowess."

From what I remember Bonk was always a bit soft from his days with Sens and Habs. I do not know...
