Marek Svatos

I'd love to get him on the Pens. What would Shero need to add to Dupuis+Godard to make it happen?

Well Colorado would want to lose salary in the deal.

I would assume they would just want a 2nd + Mid prospect. Maybe even a 3rd + prospect

Neither player is appealing to the Avalanche. Make it picks or prospects.

I'd love to see Talbot on the Canucks. What would Gillis need to add to Hordichuk+Pyatt?

(I know the Canucks are not affiliated with Pyatt anymore, I'm just giving you an idea of how ridiculous it is to propose an enforcer/plug for a semi-valuable player.)

Prospect + high pick probably, or it's worth the avs to hold on to Svatos. He's still young and a top six caliber forward on a team which lacks them.

I'd love to have him on the Bolts. A 4th + Lundin/Krajicek

?

If we give you a 2nd+Carl Sneep, could you just take Dupuis anyways?

That's a pretty tempting offer. But we don't need Dupuis even a little bit.

That's not a bad trade IMO, though some Pens fans will not like moving a 2nd for a player that could be gone in a year.

As for Dupuis the Pens would need to find SOMEBODY to take him so that we could make this trade and still sign our 6th defenseman and a goalie.

3rd + prospect would get it done IMO.

At last check Colorado only has four guys (Stastny, Hejduk, Wolski, Svatos) who are real top 6 forwards. They can't go trading one of them for two grinders.

What if they trade Svatos and then sign Tanguay, has there been any talk of him going back to Colorado?

As has been said I don't think Colorado would want both. However I do think that Dupuis could be of use to Colorado. Dupuis is an excellent PK guy, and seeing as you guys finished in the bottom third of the league on the PK, he could have some use. He would also be a solid third liner for you at a decent price (1.4M) for the next two years. I think that Dupuis+conditional 2nd/3rd rounder (depending on if Svatos resigns with us in the offseason) is about fair for Svatos and helps you guys rebuild.

I honestly think that Dupuis is a better hockey player than Matt Cooke, its just that Cooke is a better fit on the third line with Staal and Kennedy for the Pens, so thats why Dupuis plays fourth line. And the Pens can't afford to pay a 4th liner that kind of money.

It depends who you ask. Some sources say that Tanguay might be coming back. Others say there is no way. I think the latter, we are trying to shed salary so Tanguay doesn't seem likely.

That would be good, but the Colorado beat writer is adamant that the team isn't and won't be talking to him.

No go on Dupuis. Colorado has no use for him. Since apparently cutting salary is more important to front office than competitiveness, logically any return on the UFA-to-be Svatos can't include a player whose contract extends past this season.

Oh okay, thanks for the info! Svatos would be a really good pickup for the Pens for this year, especially since word just got out that Talbot is having shoulder surgery and might miss the first month of the season. He's a fringe Top 6 guy at best and now w/o him around we'll have to play a rookie or move Dupuis <shudder> back into a scoring winger role.

If Fedotenko would have left in free agency then Shero said he would have looked at a trade and there could have been something to this. Fedotenko re-signed, though and it pretty much kills any chance of this happening now imo.

I still don't think it's a bad idea. I'm not sold on Max Talbot being a 2nd line winger. He could keep the seat warm until Tangradi or Caputi are ready as long as 1 of them makes it up to the NHL and sticks before the end of the season. If not then the Pens will likely have to make a trade like this at the deadline.

What exaclty happened to this guy? After the lockout it looked like he was one of the emerging offensive stars of the league.

a combination of a couple long injuries and a year under tony granato

plus tyler arnason was his center for a good portion of the season last year

that said he used to be a pure goal scorer, he has learned to pass a bit

God, they Lightning should go after this guy. They should be able to blow other offers away if Colorado would part with him.

I would think that a second round pick would do it for sure, right? There might be other things that could also get it done, but if a bubble or basement team dangled a 2nd, Colorado would probably bite, no? I don't really think that there are too many bubble or basement teams that would offer a 2nd for the guy, but if there was just one that was willing to do so, wouldn't Colorado accept?
